Phil Collinson looks back on his Corrie years

In spite of the fact that new Corrie producer, Stuart Blackburn, has been on the job for a few months now, Friday saw the last episode from Phil Collinson's era aired on our screens. Whatever you think of his legacy, he's done some interesting things as well as some decisions that most of the fans seems to disagree with .

On ITV, there's a video of Mr. C. reflecting on his tenure at the helm of Coronation Street. It's over here but for those of you that can't see it, here's a few highlights.

He says he's had the time of his life working on such a great challenge. He calls the 50th anniversary episodes "breathtaking" and is pleased everyone "stepped up to the mark" to give us an "amazing" performance.

Other of his favourite storylines include Kirsty and domestic violence,  Becky's exit, Jack Duckworth's exit, and of course the recent fire. "I got to destroy both ends" he chuckles.

He thanks the cast and crew and the fans and hands the reins over to the next guy!

You destroyed a lot more than 'both ends' ends of the street Phil love and I'm a fan that's not chuckling along with you. Good riddance!

In over 40 years of being a Corrie fan I've never turned it off, never. But I did during his reign. I won't miss him and can only hope things now start to improve.

His "chuckling" about destroying the Street which has some irony about it just shows how smug and self satisfied his bloke is. However, sadly I think Stuart Blackburn is cut from the same cloth and nothing much will change. I hope Frosty is made to eat his words.

If last week really did see the end of PC's tenure, we can only hope for an announcement from SB detailing future stories. Unless the following characters leave within the year, I shall feel very let down: Tracy, Rob, Ryan, Stella (after her contract's up), Gloria. Most of all, the writing has got to be hauled up a couple of notches.

Frosty,

I fear you are right.

By the way, good riddance Mr C.

There were only 6 episodes plus the live ep for 50th?

He just didn't get it. He thought it was a great tribute to find a long lost will making Betty the Rovers landlady. A ridiculous, contrived plot device and complete change in the perception of a much loved character. Sums him up.

He was a brilliant producer but I think it's the right time for him to move on.
