Actress who played Rovers Return barmaid dies, age 41
Actress Sophiya Haque, who played Rovers Return barmaid Poppy Morales on Coronation Street, has died earlier today. She was just 41 years old. Sophiya fell ill before Christmas and was told just days ago she had cancer.
While undergoing tests, Ms Haque, developed a clot on her lungs and died this morning.
Her agent Oliver Thomson broke down in tears today as he told of his shock at losing “such a wonderful friend”.
He said: “Sophiya was a wonderful actress, a wonderful client but so much more than that a wonderful friend. She was adored by everyone she worked with and will be deeply missed.”
She was currently performing the role of Sylvia in Privates on Parade for the Michael Grandage Company.

Very sorry to hear that. I enjoyed Poppy and Betty's mini feud towards the end of her time on the Street.
Yes, it's very sad news. I enjoyed her on Corrie too.
My thoughts with her family and friends
That's so sad. I loved Poppy and I'd wish she'd been in it longer.
Very sad news.
Always sad when a person dies before her time. Important to note that before Corrie she was a successful VJ in India where they found her British accent exotic. She also did extensive modeling and was in a few Bollywood films. I actually think Sunita was parachuted into the gap Sophiya left upon her departure (perhaps due to illness?).
Desperately sad to lose my Soph. A wonderful talent and loving cousin.
Very sad to read this news. I enjoyed Sophiya's character on the Street, although she was under-utilised most of the time she was there.
Very sad. To my young impressionable eyes she was so very beautiful
sad to hear deepest respects to all the family
Such a terrible thing to happen R.I.P
