This just in from the official ITV Coronation Street website.
Actor Marc Baylis has just been cast to play Rob, Carla Connor’s long lost brother. Rob will be a ladies man and a bit of a rogue with
a twinkle in his eye. (Is there any other type on Coronation Street?!)
Rob is just out of prison and needs Carla’s help
to make a fresh start.
Marc said of his new role: "I feel incredibly honoured to be joining
the very talented cast of Coronation Street. Rob is an exciting
character to play and I am hoping he is going to ruffle a few
Weatherfield feathers."
And Corrie Producer Phil Collinson added: "I’m very pleased to
welcome Marc to the cast – the latest in a long line of handsome Corrie
charmers. Carla’s brother Rob is sure to set hearts fluttering in
Weatherfield from the minute he arrives. The audience can expect thrills
and a few broken hearts when this handsome bad boy hits town."
Marc's TV credits include guest appearances on Law and Order: UK,
the award-winning Misfits and Sirens. Marc will be on-screen in
Weatherfield in the early Summer as Rob arrives to seek out Carla.

Ooh he looks like a bit of all right and a twinkle of a scallywag as well. I hope the writers remember that Connor is not Carla's maiden name and give Rob a different last name. Too much to ask?
I see he's been in Hollyoaks too. Now there's a surprise.
Kym Marsh must be devastated.
He looks too... nice to be Carla Connor's brother
Looks a wee bit like Liam. Maybe Maria will get her claws into him.
completly nothing related to the new cast member but can you please tell me where julie carps coat is from in this evenings epidose?
I have looked everywhere and its driving me crazy,I have to have it! x
according to corriepedia Carlas' brother is called Darren. Hmm.
He's easy on the eye. I agree he looks too wholesome to be Carla Connor's brother though. I was expecting someone a bit more rough looking.
It says on the itv website that he'll be interested in Eva (God knows why), I wonder if this will lead to her and Nick breaking up so Leanne can get back with Nick.
Very lovely, particularly in colour with those blue eyes and his beard a little fuller. Let's pray he's got a brain, as I'm guessing he'll be no gentleman and needs something to support that wonderful exterior.
I've seen numerous references to Carla's brother Rob, including various press releases. His surname will be presumably Gordon as that was Carla's maiden name.
I am sure PC was just having a 'senior moment' when he referred to Rob.
Although Rob Connor may be who we are presented with on June 4th!
Apologies for the above trypo(too many exams!)
It should read
'I have seen numerous references to Carla's brother *DARREN*'
We should be getting Darren Gordon but what are the odds that it will be Rob Connor?
Gordon? I didnt' realize when she married Tony that his name was the same as her maiden name.
That surprised me too, Tvor. Surely she would have commented on it at some point? Also, Darren was the name of Michelle's partner/husband, the sainted father of Ryan. Why is there so much confusion around names with this family? (cf. the mystery of Michelle's married name - she claimed to have been married to Darren, and yet still bears her maiden name, as does Ryan)
Carla's maiden name as never been revealed, so it will be interesting to see what Rob's surname is.
As for Rob/Darren, Darren has been mentioned frequently - served 8 years for armed robbery, its Darren who Carla saw after her mother's funeral; so we must assume she has (at least) two brothers and that Darren was released from prison before Rob.
The head of press for Corrie, on Twitter said that Carla has more than one brother, which is either a hasty explanation for why he isn't called Darren/they want another story direction for him, or Rob is even worse than Darren which is why Carla has never mentioned him.
I can see though, Carla being the only girl in a family of brothers. I can imagine them being very protective of her. Good luck to Peter Barlow!
Michelle's husband was Dean.
It's never said Carla's maiden name was Gordon. It says "previously Gordon" on the itv website, but that was only because she was married to Tony and changed back to Connor after that.
It would have saved a lot of time and hasty explanations if they'd just called him Darren, though!
And Carla's maiden name isn't Gordon, that was Tony's surname.
