Coronation Street Weekly Update, January 3 2011

Happy New Year to everyone reading this. And a million thanks to Janet Waterhouse for writing the last two week’s updates. It’s always hard trying to find a willing volunteer to write the Christmas episodes especially and I’m therefore very grateful indeed to Janet for taking on the task, especially as she’s not a well bunny and she’s got the lurgy. Get well soon Janet! But now, I’m back and without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update.

I can’t think of a better way to start a New Year and a weekly update than to report that Tracy Barlow was found this week in a pool of blood.  In the world of soap where baddies always get what’s coming to them, Tracy got it bad and in the back yard of the Barlow’s house.

But who’s caved her head in and with what? My money’s on Mrs Peacock with the frying pan but it’s Steve and Becky who are under suspicion.  It doesn’t help Steve’s case that he was the one who was found next to Tracy’s body with blood on his hands.  But there’s a list as long as your arm as to who could have attacked Tracey-luv.

Perhaps it was David whom she bedded upstairs at the Barlow’s then joked about the size of his manhood in front of everyone at the Rovers.  Perhaps it was Nick who she tried to bed in the backroom of the bookies until Leanne came in causing Barlows Interruptus, as the couple were caught in flagrante delicto which was 5-2 odds on at Aintree.  And perhaps it was Gail who wanted revenge on Tracy for sexing up both her Plattilsely boys.
Over at the garage, Kev and Tyrone bicker over the bashed up big ends. They can’t work together, not after what’s happened, but neither want to give up their share of the firm. Kevin finds a child-minder for little Jack while Sally does some child-minding of her own when she invites Tyrone in for tea and snogs him on the doormat.

Mind you, Sally’s got much on her mind after finding Sophie and Sian in bed together, nude.

At the Rovers on New Years Eve, Audrey’s arch-frenemy Claudia arrives and whips her big shiny red hair back and forth. “Aud!” she screams to Audrey’s dismay.  “Claudie!” Aud replies, to get her own back. There’s a raffle and Audrey’s upset when she wins a hairdo at Claudie’s salon. She’s even more upset when she finds out that Claudia’s hoping to open a new salon in Ashley’s old butcher’s shop.

Elsewhere this week, baby Hope fights on at th’opsital as Fiz and John fret around th’incubator.  And Owen gives Gary Windass a job in his building firm after Izzy asks her dad to take Gary on to give him summat to do. Anna’s over the moon that Gary’s getting out of the house as he’s been locked away in his room since he came back from the war.

And that’s just about that for this week.

This week’s writers were Mark Wadlow, Damon Rochefort, Jonathan Harvey, new writer Ellen Taylor and Martin Allen. Find out more about the  Coronation Street writing team.

I loved the bits in the Webster's house when Kevin was only allowed in the Conservatory and only a tin of lobster bisque and water chestnuts in the cupboard, really funny!
