The previews are in from ITV for next week’s Coronation Street and before Aunty Vi’s funeral, Debbie hands cheques to Kevin and Sophie.
Abi finds out about Kevin’s £50k windfall and plans to meet him for lunch. As Kevin waits in the bistro for Abi, a sassy woman in her forties approaches and reveals that she’s Martine and apologises for standing him up and that Abi tracked her down, but is Kevin interested in Martine?
When Paula suggests Sophie should jack in her college course and go travelling in Cambodia instead, Sophie’s taken aback. Paula persuades Sophie to leave for Cambodia however it transpires that Paula never planned to go with her, she just used it as a way to encourage the move.
Kevin, Sally, Tim and Paula bid an emotional farewell to Sophie as she leaves for Cambodia.

All the very best wishes to Brooke, but I won't miss the character of Sophie at all. She just seems to wander in and out of Kevin's stories from time to time, we never see her at work, and appears to have no friends except for Paula with whom there is zero chemistry. Perhaps it is time to wish the character goodbye.
