Will Denise and Shona return? Find out here!

Last week we saw Denise Osbourne leave the cobbles after a wonderfully powerful scene with son Daniel. She told Ken she wasn't going very far in case Daniel needed her again. As far as Corrie's flawed mothers go, Denise is up there with the best of them and I hope we see her again soon.

A Corrie spokesperson told Digital Spy that this was the end of Denise's return stint and there are no plans for her to come back at the moment, though of course, nothing is being ruled out for the future given her strong family ties on the street.

And a Corrie source told Metro: ‘There are no current plans for Denise to return but as she is an established character, never say never!’

And as for Shona?  It does seem very likely indeed that after last week's argument with David over the reveal that Shona was Clayton's mum, wasn't a final exit for Shona.   In an interview with the Coronation Street Blog, which you can read on the link below, Julia Goulding said that Shona would be around on the show until at least October.

Yay! I am so glad. I think Daniel may have a chance to heal if his mother is out of the picture. As for family ties...only Daniel and it is weak at best.
As for Shona....I am thrilled....I am just sitting back and waiting to see how her story unfolds.

Very disappointed to hear Denise is done for now. Actually, Pearl, I think Daniel's best chance of healing is having his mother around with whom to work through those issues. Not do I think her tie to Daniel is weak; she's a mother who has now become aware of how badly she's damaged her son. Psychologically, that's a pretty powerful tie.

I'm sorry but unless I missed a scene where it was all explained, just how did Denise get away with it for seven years? As for Shona the character, and no disrespect to the actress, I'm not a fan. Too dowdy, too serious, as well the obvious problems with Clayton. If Shona must return, I hope she's matched with someone a bit older like Steve.

No, it's never been explained how Denise's absence went unnoticed for all that time. Maybe the scriptwriters will read this blog and write in a helpful scene...

I thought Denise said she had a mental breakdown, to Ken when Daniel was locked in the bathroom. Or maybe not, it's fuzzy. I know some don't like her, but I thought she came on strong but natural. She fit in well with folks who didn't know her, but couldn't get a read on Liz and Audrey; they were Deirdre's besties, so guessing they wouldn't be thrilled. See, bring her back and you have instant conflict. She'd need a job. There's no crimper spot at the salon but if she's qualified, the nail bar is open. Or maybe some freelance work through Rosie's modeling connections. Or maybe she knows how to sew (ugh). Daniel will need to work out his issues with her, so I hope she isn't forgotten.

Shona - if she had confessed when she returned David's wallet, maybe. But keeping that secret for so long, dragging Gail into it, no. It's dramatics, not drama, and while the actress is competent and believable, the character is nothing special. Just another down on her luck waif for Roy to fix. Seen that, bought the tee shirt.

Would love to see Denise back, don't want her to go.

But skanky Shona can do one, hope she never comes back.
