Reggae, Pop and Rock - Our Top 10 Corrie Theme Tunes

Thought there was just one version of the Coronation Street theme tune? Think again! From rock to reggae, here we go with our favourite versions of the Coronation Street theme tune that we have sourced over 10 years of running the Coronation Street Blog.

Did you know that the theme tune is also known as 'Capri', because that's where it was composed?

If you can add to this list, please leave a comment below or email me with the weblink to where we can find more Corrie choons and we'll add them in with full credit to you!

1. Sing Me a Memory - the version with words

2. My personal favourite and one I own on 12" single, the ska reggae version by Izzy Royal

3. Soulful funk version by The Flaming Muchachos - this was brought to my attention by Craig Charles (who played Lloyd Mullaney in Corrie) on his BBC Radio 6 Funk and Soul Show.

4. Coronation Street Jamaican singalong by Top Grant - a totally joyous bluebeat singalong.

5. Rock Metal Style - short and sweet and totally rad, dude.

6.  Funkin' it up on Corrie - Funk version that sounds as if it's been made on a Bontempi organ in someone's bedroom. And there's nothing wrong with that.

7.  Meerkat Polka Band. Love 'em or hate 'em, the meerkats are here to stay for the foreseeable future as long as the Coronation Street sponsor is comparethemarket.com.  MMeerkat band plays the theme tune

8. Classical Music version by Gabriela Montero. She is known for being a stupendous pianist, but she’s also a truly gifted improviser.  She begins playing at 1.46 in the video below.

9. Coronation Street cast sing a spoof theme tune for April Fool's Day 2017

10. And finally, the original and the best. The 1960 version.

I see what you mean about the reggae version, it makes me want to dance!

The last one is lovely, it feels like a lost era almost, that we can never get back. I feel as though I miss it, even though it was long before my time!
