Wow! I was glued to Coronation Street this week. I have to say I haven't enjoyed one of the "big weeks" as much as I have this one. Most of them in the past have been very uneven but this week, with three major storylines breaking and setting up the plot for the next few months, it's really been unmissable telly.
Daniel was outed as Ken's attacker and Daniel then completely fell to pieces when his mother turned up out of the blue. There must be more hard questions asked and answered from that quarter and if he doesn't get some help, Daniel is going to go right off the rails.
Shona realized who Bethany's Nathan was and brought the Platt posse to rescue her just as things were hitting their most dire for Bethany. Still, Nathan's control is so strong over her that she's blind to his misdeeds. So far.
Nick has been losing himself for a long time now and you can't just blame his brain injury. His obsession with Leanne dates long before that and has caused him to do a lot of horrible things like luring Peter back to the demon drink after the tram crash. Nearly drowning was his wake up call and he doesn't like the bitter, jealous, spiteful man he's become. If anyone needs a fresh start, it's Nick as long as he can get Leanne out from under his skin for good.
There's been a few minor filler storylines, nothing to really keep me interested. I was too engaged in the main three and spellbound by some outstanding performances, too.
I've gone into all this in more detail over on State of the Street, for your perusal.

The Shona/Nathan connection doesn't ring true for me unless it turns out she was with him for a decade or more. He preys on young girls (in fact his practically-pedophile ring of fellow predators seem to demand it). So why would he bother making the effort with a fairly street-smart 29 yo with a teenaged kid?
Ps the above criticism aside, I LOVED the week. The writing and acting knocked it out of the park.
Nathan is an opportunist as well as pimp, he went for Shona because she was there. As for practically pedophile. No..it is all pedophile, a child's a child. I wonder how Shona didn't spot Nathan for what he was though. We need to know more of her story.
Great week aside from the Cathy and Brian farce.
Mel isn't a kid either, and he's used her. As Shona said "he pimped her out". He tried to get money from wherever he could. Age no object
So much packed into such a short time.
Shona did spot Nathan for what he was, and that's how she managed to get out
Obviously the writers are going after a new demographic of viewers and leaving us old faithfuls in the dust.

Crikey. Corrie in the Trump era. :-(
Not that it isn't well done, but crikey.
I honestly didn't enjoy this week as much as I thought I would. It was all very well-acted but I thought the Ken/Daniel story came to a strange ending, I personally would've preferred justice to have been done. Denise's return was unconvincing as well. The best story out of the 3 was Bethany's grooming and Nick's departure was so forced.
i agree about nick. it was too sudden, all happened in one day, he left without telling leanne which was really unfair, and i can't see how gail is going to be able to spin this to be leannes fault. i was glad to see the back of him though. every single scene recently he has just been whining. whining, whining, whining and frankly i've got fed up of it!
