Michelle Keegan confirms - Tina will be murdered

According to the Radio Times, via the Jonathan Ross show, it seems the rumours are true. Tina McIntyre is going to be killed off for her exit from Coronation Street. Actor Michelle Keegan who plays Tina was interviewed on the television chat show and confirmed it:

“She’s getting killed. At first she wasn’t and then they came up with a really good storyline that involves a lot of characters on the street and it’s going to be a big storyline next year. So, in a way, it’s an honour and I’m very excited for it.”

She's not giving anything more away other than it seems it would be a murder but we don't know at this point who "dunnit". I think it's a shame they have to have a murder "mystery" yet again. It's getting to be every other year that someone dies and someone else is falsely accused of it, even spending time in jail and my guess is that someone might be David. But it's early days. Peter or Carla could also be in the running if Tina's affair with Peter interferes with their relationship.

It doesn't really  matter. It's a re-run plot device and it's getting old and tired. It's also a shame when it's a pretty young woman rather than an evil rapist like Frank Foster.

Ooh, I just had a thought. Is it too much to ask that Tracy offs Tina and is packed off to prison for good?

Please let it be Tracy again and she can get banged up and Rob can bog off. And lets hope the forensic expert has not faked his qualifications again

OK - so who's leaving after Tina? one of Price gang? Peter Barlow? I agree, it will be tedious and predicable, there will be a 'wrongly accused' who gets banged up before the real culprit is revealed, just before their contract expires. Hot on the heels of Hayley's death too ( I know for very different reasons, the murder of a young woman is disturbing and unsettling. All the storylines are depressing at the moment, might have to reach for that 'off' button once more.

I think it's unfortunate they're going this route, especially since she originally asked not to be killed off so she can leave the door open to come back if she wants to (or her career doesn't take off like she hopes.) I don't see why the character can't just move away, people do it all the time in real life, especially at her point in life.

Right now, I'd say it's Peter who will be the murderer since he's announced he's leaving the show. The writers don't seem to be very creative when it comes to writing people out of the show. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong (I'm hoping it's Tracy.)

My first thought (hope) was that it would be Tracy but I doubt we will be that lucky.

*rolling eyes*

With potential candidates (David, Peter, Tracy, Carla) lining up already, I'm resigned to a sensationalist story. Tina is street smart survivor of a fairly lousy young life. Mouthy and hot headed, she nevertheless always held a job or 2 and made her own way. What a waste. If true, it's a shame, because I like Tina & MK and hoped she'd return one day. The only redemption would be Tracy getting sent down for good.

Oh, and Simon is getting attached. How many times does that kid have to lose a mother figure?

It will be Tracy who is wrongly accused but nobody believes her. My money is on Peter - he gets drunk and kills her in a booze filled haze and bogs off.

Excellent. Let it be David but Tracy is wrongly convicted and goes down for it; for good! Then let David off himself out of guilt!

Why oh why Corrie writers are you re hashing this old herring again. For heavens sake why can't Tina just decide she has had enough of the street small minds and move to another part of the UK.If it has to end with death then perhaps the wrongly accused be Stella or gloria - add a bit of colour to their beige lives and then we find the killer is David..

Agree with abbyk on the continuing mother-loss trauma for Simon. Maybe they're setting him up to be next decade's "David".

What a lazy, cheap attempt to raise ratings by killing of a character who, despite being gobby and meddlesome, nonetheless tries to get along with everyone. Now the writers are going to manufacture and manipulate the natural flow of the characters and once again clumsily work up to some kind of incredible situation that warrants her being murdered... oh please... give the audience some credit for watching with at least half our brains turned on...have her get another job, go work on a cruiseship... if Steve can go to college, why can't she decide that she's got the brains to pursue something beyond being a barmaid? Then see if there's a way sometime down the road to get her back after she's gotten a certificate/degree --fine she can be a barmaid again or maybe she can purchase the bar along with a few friends... or a husband...

My money is on Roy Cropper. He'll have a 1 night stand with Tina and the guilt will make him murder Tina

I am not looking forward to a grisy murder of a lovely young girl, yeah Tina can be very annoying but she does not deserve this - another sensationalist story with glaring headlines everywhere in the lead up. Why doesnt she just run off with Peter Barlow being as he is leaving too or is he the murderer? Now we know she is going to be done in, we are going to view Tina in a totally different light - thanks for that, why cant these things be kept under wraps?

I haven't seen the interview yet but who's to say Michelle Keegan wasn't winding everyone up? Mayhap she doesn't get killed at all.

But if she does, it stands to reason that it won't be by any of the regular cast, with the exception of Tracey, who has done it before and got away with it.

Or maybe she will die during one of those sex games with Peter since he is leaving anyway.

I don't think it will be Peter altho' he's an obvious suspect. If CG wants to come back in a couple of years, and I hope he does, then the murderer has to be someone leaving permanently. I hope it's Tracy; it's accidental but no-one believes her with her track record. It could also be the loan shark which would be a real cop-out.

I, too, am fed up with murders. How many can there be on one street?

Frankly I'm so sick of her orange moaning face I wish they'd off her right now!

I won't miss her at all either and won't mind that she cannot come back. I wonder whether the producers gave MK permission to reveal this spoiler or she just revealed it of her own accord?

If they are going to keep killing characters off, why don't they just kill Tracy?!?!?!

When she got the phone call from Tommy dumping her they would have been smarter to have him ask her to join him and she could have left in the obligatory black taxi never to be seen again.
All they would have had to do is buy out her contract and let her leave now instead of all this leaked affair/murder tripe.

If I had my choice it would be Michelle killed off. She is soooo annoying.
I think the actress who plays Tina will be successful like Becky and Karen...and therefor will have no need to come back.
I am looking forward to the storyline.

Nothing is said about 'murder'. She is being killed off - well, at least we won't have the specter of the 'orange one' haunting our screens - no chance of her coming back. Yay. Maybe she meets up with Tommy on a cruise ship to try and salvage their relationship and she slips in her bucket of tanning oil and slides overboard.

Perhaps bully Grace will do it? And Faye will get accused...

I think little Grace should be kept in the show. I think little psycho Grace could find out that there are some doubts about Steve being Amy's dad (gossip overheard in the back garden via Liz's dulcet tones, voices carrying through an open window, etc)-we have never actually had confirmation about it-so psycho Grace manages to get DNA samples from all three people (from the cafe, the kebab shop, etc.)and confirms that Steve is not the father Grace gleefully proceeds to anonymously blackmail Tracy who immediately assumes the blackmailer is Tina so does her in. Peter is nicked for it but has to spend ages in jail before the truth comes out. I love the character of little Grace and believe the actress could handle the role of an older child who gets caught up in things and people that are WAY out of her league. It would also be an interesting topic, we frequently hear of children doing nasty stuff and how it creates lots of debate. I can't stand the Faye character- a sullen-faced little troll who it seems never has to face the consequences of anything, whether it be poisoning fish, lying or vandalizing property. BTW-did I miss something when Tim gave Sally heck for leaving the two girls alone while Sally popped out to the shops? Wasn't he the one who was fooled into leaving Faye alone for a week???

Or maybe morose Tina, grieving the losses of her dad, her parenting rights over baby Joe, her poor choices in relationships such as David and her loser of a boyfriend Tommy, will take a sail on the lake where her dad died, disappear then everyone will think she was murdered.....We could have all the nailbiting suspense of seeing the enquiries, the finger-pointing, the grudge-bearing enemies all coming out of the woodwork, the case being relegated to Limbo due to lack of a body and if the actress comes back in 5, 10 or 15 years it would be a shocker of a storyline...

I, for one, am for the 'killing of Tina.' Means she can't come back. And, that's what we really want isn't it?
