Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 24th November

BETSY - CARLA - LISA - CORONATION STREET - ITV

You'd think by now that Carla and Lisa would have learned not to engage in breakfast smoochies. It's like Chief Gordon putting the bat signal up above Gotham, apart from it doesn't summon Batman but Becky. This time it's because someone's sent her a wreath saying Rest In Peace - Again. She reckons it was Costello but he denies it. Batty Becky takes a picture of Costello Jnr and sends it to her ex-boss as he's having a meeting with Kit. The latter listens at the keyhole as Costello shouts at Becky down the phone.

If Becky really were in danger, then she'd have moved, n'est-ce pas? "I need it all to stop now!" she cries. JUST LEAVE THEN.

CARL - TRACY - CORONATION STREET - ITV

Carl starts messing with the bought ledger at Chariot Square in order to oust Debbie. Has anyone seen that Key and Peele sketch where two robbers get jobs in a bank to gain intel, but just end up working there, being paid and drawing a pension? Why doesn't Carl just work at the hotel? Get promoted to manager, discount on food, few free drinks? His cunning plan doesn't work as the unpaid Tracy offers to do the flowers anyway. But our Debbie agrees to take some days off and gives Carl the keys to the fortress, or at least the password for the accounts system.

Tyrone needs to get to a physio appointment and Fiz is away looking after Cilla and none of his car driving pals are available to give him a lift. Neither are any cab drivers available. Not even Fat Brenda? Cassie says she'll drive him, leaving the switch unattended. Eileen is turning in her deckchair! The first rule of working in the cab office is that we do not talk about working in the cab office. The second rule of working in the cab office is that we do not leave the switch unmanned or unwomanned. The third rule is something about biscuits, but let's not go into that now. Then we find out that Fiz is not in Birmingham, but at Chariot Square having some me time. This seems foolish given the number of Street residents usually hanging around the place, who might mention seeing her to Ty or the kids.

KEVIN - DEV - STEVE - CORONATION STREET - ITV

In the house of divorced dads, Kev is setting up a home pub with a keg of beer and a dartboard so he doesn't have to see Abeh in the pub. The point of going to the pub is to go out; I'm not sure Kev has grasped that.

And in the house of coercive control, Theo is horrible to Todd. Also, ursines relieve themselves in wooded areas, the head of the Catholic church is still a Catholic, and Becky has just turned up again to number 6, to move in this time.

Rachel Stevenson - on bluesky

What sort of wheelchair does Tyrone have? Only a folding one will fit in a car, and it fills the boot. In reality he would take a wheelchair taxi with a ramp. He seems to have no problem entering neighbours' houses even though they all have doorsteps. The faktri entrance has a flight of steps. Presumably Izzy has wheelchair access round the back?

Why doesn't somebody just say 'NO!' to silly little Betsy? Ah because there'd be no story. Stupid, stupid story by penny dreadful writers.

To be fair to Fiz, The Chariot Square does seem to be the only Hotel in the whole of Greater Manchester...

Nice review and I agree.
I'm sick of the Becky storyline. Why are they dragging it out?
Surely the team realise that the viewers are fed up of it? I read somewhere that one of the scriptwriters wasn't happy with Becky being brought back from the dead but they had to go with the flow.
Nice to see Steve and Debbie back. No trace of a suntan, which is strange, seeing as they've both been abroad in sunnier climes.
As for fizz taking herself off to the hotel- I don't blame her but who is looking after dorin? Why isn't Dorin back with his mum now?
I think Billy's exit will be understated. It'll be 'You're needed in another parish' and off he goes.
Dee dee will return to the states I expect, where the new job offer will include a daytime nursery for the baby.
I've no idea where Cassie or Ty park their car and how does James manage to make a good living as a PT with only a handful of clients?
I see Summer was working in Dev's. I wonder if that's going to be her established role now.

The ongoing mystery of characters suddenly having a car. Or expensive clothes for weddings and funerals.
Unpacking boxes in Kev's "pub" - Steve: "I hope we don't find Gwynneth Paltrow's head." LOL!

Betsey is a spoilt brat. Why is Becky more important to her than Lisa who she seems to hate? And why does she call them both Mum? First names is less confusing. Is either of them Betsey's biomum?

Yes Coconno, Lisa is Betsy's biomum as it was her egg that was used at the sperm bank and Becky carried Betsy as a surrogate Mum, at least according to Corriepedia
