Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 17th November

TODD - CORONATION STREET - ITV

I never really get people falling asleep on the sofa and not waking up 'til morning. Don't they awake at 2 a.m. needing the loo? Even if they didn't, I think the washing machine beep would wake someone up. Anyway, Terrible Theo is on the evil warpath again, getting revenge on Todd for, erm...having a job? by not waking him up and putting all four of his white shirts in the wash. What does he wear on Fridays? This seems a little short sighted by Theo: if neither has a job, then how they gonna have a flat? Christina steps into the breach at the funeral, as her character-softening continues. I do prefer her as being a bit rough 'round the edges rather than a cat-fishing harpy. George and Todd have a full on, stand up row, which culminates in George kicking Todd out of the undertakers. Maybe Todd should reciprocate and chuck George out of no. 11? Theo tries brokers a peace deal, but after Theo negging him, Todd yells at George. "I don't know what to do to reach your impossible standards!" Projection, much? Toddicles and George falling out has to be the worst thing Theo has done. Except the kebab to the face.

Coronation Street 'confirms' who Sally and Tim foster - and they are already on cobbles

In the senior grooming storyline, Sally sees Trisha lunching at the Bistro with a teenage boy, who turns out to be her nephew, not before Sally has approached her angrily. I thought Sally, ex-mayor'd be at the funeral. As an aside, in the junior grooming storyline, is Megan actually grooming Will? I'm not defending a 25 (?) year old having an illegal relationship with someone over whom she has power, but it feels more like a (highly) inappropriate relationship, rather than someone preying on multiple teens à la Larry Nassar.

Carl sitting next to Abi in Coronation Street

Meanwhile, Alfie is ill but Abi doesn't want to miss her counselling session so she gets Carl to pick him up from nursery. He manages about 15 minutes before he palms him off on Kev.

Kit moves in with Sarah but their romantic bliss is threatened by a) Kit's knowledge of riot law and b) Brody coming round to demand egg 'n' chips and football highlights.

And David asks the question we’ve all been wondering: why have Mrs Doyle and Jamie Maguire got different accents? She moved to Belfast when she married his da', is the answer. Doesn't explain the Mancunian accents of his sons though. Or how old Ollie is supposed to be given that Jamie McCusker is 46? 20? 21? Is Deedee accidentally grooming Ollie?

It was pretty terrible what Theo did to Todd. I really felt for Todd. I notice that Theo didn't go into another room when he said ' I'll leave you to talk'- he just lounged against the worktop and watched them.
I don't think Theo sees the bigger picture regarding jobs and the flat. I guess he feels that he can easily ditch Todd and move on.
Why doesn't Todd confide in Sarah? They've had a child together and have remained good friends.
As for the teen romances...back in the 1970's and 80's, many sixteen year old young women often had relationships with guys who were aged 20 and over. No- one batted an eyelid, but if it was the other way round - a 20 year old woman seeing a 16 year old male, then it would be seen as a bit odd.
Hasn't a famous teen male darts player had a lot of hassle online because his girlfriend was older than him?
I appreciate that we live in different times now.
For a long time, 16 year olds could get married, although they needed their parent's legal permission to do so.

I am not sure Sally is fit to be a foster parent. She shouldn’t’ have gone storming over to Trisha during what was supposed to be a happy family meal with the children, and then she harangued Tim about it in front of the them. She should have been more aware of the children picking up on what she was talking about and the tension it is causing.
