On the edge of my seat

It started with a argybargy in the Bistro and ended up in an inferno. What did you think of the beginning two episodes of the latest Coronation Street disaster? I enjoyed it, I really did. The pre-show slanging match to the Full Monty seemed to entertain the punters almost as much as the show itself and one or two of the dancers appeared to have enjoyed themselves so much that I'm sure they had done it before.

But it was Karl that lit Stella's fire unknowingly. He didn't realize she had gone back home early and is now playing the hero, though trapped up at the top of the stairs. Was it wrong for me to be a little sorry that Tracy Barlow got out alive? We were promised a death. I had hope. On the plus side, she did go back for Eccles.

There's more commentary and a few photos here. Previews for the next episode look even more exciting! Wednesday will have us on the edge of our seats for sure. Well, me anyway! What did you think?

Those episodes were gripping, no doubt. One question I'm struggling with - why was Sunita there when the fire started? For one moment I thought she'd be the arsonist but when it turned out that Karl was after all, it just didn't make sense that she'd be there. Confused.

So where were Deirdre & Ken?

Looks like Sunita may posthumously be blamed for torching the Rovers' . And Karl may be be (undeservedly) a dead hero.

I had very high expectations for the fire, and Corrie has already exceeded them, we still have a whole episode to go too!

I was definitely on the edge of my seat this whole episode. I think Sunita will get blamed for the fire, which I find to be unfortunate. I had read all the spoilers but these two episodes still managed to surprise me - I even found a couple tears in my eyes at one point. I didn't like the way they were taking Sunita as a character but I think this was an unfortunate way for her to die; especially if she ends up being blamed for the blaze.

Unless I've missed something ,Sunita spotted Karl sneaking down the ginnel and followed him.She caught him red handed setting fire to the Rovers. Ken & Dreary had taken Amy & Simon out somewhere ( Ken had got the tickets... conveniently on the same night as the full monty!)

Yep, that's it. The Barlows were out somewhere and Sunita followed Karl down the ginnel and caught him red handed. She was suspicious as to why he was lurking and letting himself in the back of the pub when everyone was out.

One good result from the fire: all those boring beige dresses will be destroyed!

Actually Amy has been missing for over a year. She was last seen running up to her room in January 2012. I very much doubt if she is more than bones after that time without food or water. That is the real reason Tracy went back to save only Ecceles.

Sunita may utter the words 'Karl did it' before she dies?

I have the feeling that Karl won't be caught out for a while, similar to when Tony Gordon arranged Liam Connor's murder. Tony went on to fall in love with Liam's widow, Maria, and even helped her raise the child of the man he was responsible for killing. They were happy for a time before she found out that the man she loves and trusts ordered her husband's death.

I think Karl will get Beige Lady back because she'll think he was a hero for saving her. They'll be happy for a while, but then something will trigger suspicion in Beige Lady, and eventually his guilt will be discovered, just like it happened with Tony. She'll find out that the man she loves and let back into her life was responsible for burning down her pub and causing 2 deaths.

Since I haven't heard anything about John Michie (Karl Munro) leaving Corrie, he'll be around the street for a while yet.

I thought the scene with St Ella banging on the window and shouting for help whilst the resident just made O shapes with their mouths and "HERO" Paul just telling everyone to get back while she burned to death in front of their eyes unbelievable. Why didnt anyone just fetch a ladder????

Frosty I agree with you 100%. Special effects aside which were pretty spectacular. I just laughed. They all just stood there like lemons. The only bit of oomph and action was from Jason which prompted Karl to move and run round the back.

But considering their mother/ daughter could have been burning to death Leanne, Eva and Gloria Gob just stood there like a bunch of f@rts. They could have been watching a firework display with more enthusiasm. The direction was poor, poor, poor. Either they had been stood out in the cold all night filming this and were frozen solid or couldn't be arsed with another explosive storyline from the Collison Corrie cupboard.

It was laughable and the 86 cast put them to shame!

Frosty - totally agree with you. If that were my relative I would be telling Fireman Paul to sod off and grabbing a ladder - just how far away is that Fire Station - and why didn't he ask if anyone had a ladder? - why werent' there more people in the street, looked like just the residents but there were many more inside the Bistro?
