Will Jason be cleared of burning down the Rovers Return?

Poor Jason.  He's being blamed for the fire that burned down the Rovers Return, for killing Toni and snuffing out Sunita.  His mum's boyfriend Paul won't speak to him and now he's spotted his girlfriend St Ella and her ex-fella holding hands in the hospital ward.

With news that Karl comes close to killing again on Corrie to keep his secret about burning down the Rovers, I'm wondering if it'll be Jason he'll try to bump off, as Jason will no doubt be doing his utmost to get as much proof as possible that it wasn't him, but Karl, who started the fire.

Ryan Thomas, who plays Jason, played a blinder in last night's episodes, I thought.  Normally he just struts around with his shirt off, and fair enough, he plays to his strengths.  But last night he really did an excellent job of displaying all the emotion, concern, love and jealousy and that bit at the end when Eileen reached out for her son's hand and he reached back for his mum, fair brought a tear to my eye.

Yep even old Frosty's heart of snow went out to Jason last night. Why was the fireman even discussing how the fire started with Paul in earshot of half the street? This would be sensitive confidential information with nothing proved and no results in, and nobody would actually do this. I wish Jason would get himself a decent woman that appreciates him instead of this ungrateful botoxed old bird.

ha ha that made me laugh exactly I was screaming at the tv. This would never happen in the real world. I hope they kill off fireman paul. This he's such a drip.

Yes, Ryan Thomas was excellent last night, as was John Michie - superb! In fact, I enjoyed last night's hour-long episode much, much more than the fire itself. Poor Jason, nasty (but conflicted) Karl, lovely, concerned Marcus and Maria, deranged Kirsty - loved them all!-NN

Felt so sorry for Jason. Thought Ryan Thomas was excellent - it was great acting. Boo hiss to Paul though - a hero, but not thinking straight.

Yeah, I know, it isn't real :-)

I too have never particularly rated Ryan Thomas as a great actor, but he managed to convey various emotions perfectly last night. Compare that to poor old Jimmi Harkishin, who grins maniacally as he tries to act heartbreak and anger, and is an embarrassment to watch.

Why did Roy refuse to take the money for Marcus's coffees? Roy runs a business and Marcus hardly ran into the burning building, in fact he was one of the cast that wasnt around? Bit random I thought.

I would think Paul would be suspended for leaking information about a suspicious fire but this is Coronation Street so anything goes. I felt sorry for Jason as well...he looked stunned when Stella asked for Karl and Paul...well..he's just asking for a shot in the mouth.
Great episode...Gloria/Leanne/Eva keeping vigil outside of Stella's room..very touching.

Ryan Thomas is greatly under-used and is much better than plain eye candy. In fact, the only reason Stella and Jason isn't completely yuk is that Ryan makes it believable.

I suppose it happens that fire crew suffering from the trauma of a blaze might act unprofessionally and speak out of turn. To be fair, although Jason didn't start the fire,he did leave inflammable material underneath faulty electrics.

I agree, Humpty. At first, Jason just didn't have much to do, but in recent years, he's played normal, decent (and gorgeous) guy, not too bright, but good at his job, a good friend, and once in a while, capable of eyebrow raising insight. He's natural and believable and usually in a supporting role, so we don't notice. I'm looking forward to a little more JJ time. Without St Ella, thank you.

David Parsons, I think Roy gave Marcus the coffee for free because he and Maria are taking care of Sunita's twins while Dev is at the hospital. Overall the dialogue - with Sylvia and also Ken - showed people pulling together as a community, so I think it was all in that spirit.

Why was Marcus buying coffee at Roy's anyway? Don't they have a kettle at Maria's?

3 young kids to look after, no time to go shopping for supplies. (Is the Corner Shop even open?) Takeaway seems quicker. Plus you get to be with grown-ups, hear the latest. A small luxury. Made sense to me...

Well, of COURSE he will be cleared of starting the fire. the Investigator's report will show that the fire was not ignited by an electrical fault.

Next!

SPOILER ALERT:

The spoilers are already saying he'll be cleared very soon, and suspicion will fall on another character.

As long as it doesn't drag on for the next year or two.
That seems to be the only thing the producer and writers can do since they seem to have no ideas for good story lines so they drag this crap out as long as they can and then they have to steal story lines from other soaps to keep going.

Jason was by far the best of teh Full Monty. I would like to see more of him in more ways than one.
