Tyrone and Fiz have history - but do they have a future?

A comment from a Coronation Street fan on twitter this week got me thinking. The fan on twitter was and his comment was: "I don't know my Corrie history well but were Ty & Fiz ever a couple back then?"

Well, for those Corrie fans who would like to know, let's delve into the history books via Corrie.net and Corriepedia to remind ourselves just what a couple Ty and Fiz were, first time around.  And why perhaps it was only natural that Tyrone would seek out Fiz's help when he needed it most to get away from Kirsty.

Back in 2000, Tyrone and Maria got engaged. You might remember Tyrone proposed to Maria at the top of Blackpool tower in an episode when all the young 'uns went on holiday to Blackpool.  Watch the YouTube here.

Meanwhile, Fiz became somewhat obsessed with Tyrone.

Maria broke off her engagement to Tyrone after seeing Fiz and Tyrone kiss.

Although nursing a broken heart for Maria, Tyrone started going out with Fiz, not having had much of a say in the matter.

Harking back to his days as a juvenile delinquent, Tyrone began nicking cars from the garage and taking Fiz on joyrides.

Their relationship ended when Fiz, making a stand over her dismissal from the factory, posed topless on the factory roof and her photo was splashed over the front page of the newspaper.

So, it seems to me from looking back at the runaway duo, that Tyrone needs Fiz's strength at the moment more than her love and any notion of romance. I'd not really thought about it like that before and it's only by looking back at what they were like before, how insistent Fiz was on getting her man, whether he wanted to be got or not, that suggests they might not last in the future.

When all's said and done, when Kirsty's locked up or killed off (for surely she most be, villains always get their comeuppance), do you think there's a future for Tyrone and Fiz and Ruby and Hope?

Didn't Tyrone and Kirk also fight for Fiz's affections? When Tyrone dressed up as a knight in shining armour?

I am really past caring now what happens to Tyrone and Fiz, the story line has entered the realms of the ridiculous. If the producer dosen't want to lose viewers in droves, it's time to bring this story to a swift conclusion.

Both characters have grown up so I don't think the old pattern applies. I can see Fiz and Tyrone together but without Ruby. We have seen that Kirsty is finding the pretense harder and harder. Kirsty wanted Tyrone because he was easy to control. She will confess all when she accepts that he is well and truly out of her clutches. And that is down to Fiz. Kirsty may not die but will leave the street with Ruby. Hope needs a father and Tyrone needs a child.

I stopped watching because this storyline, along with a few others is horrible. I no longer care about Tyrone or Fiz. The Kirsty character has been backed into a corner now and ruinned. Terrible.

I think Ty loves Fiz, but I don't think he is passionately in love with her. I also agree that they need to bring this sad storyline to an end. It's borderline ridiculous. Does Ty not know what lawyers are for? I'm sure any half assed gumshoe could dig up the dirt on Kirsty.
I am also not liking the way the entire street (except Tina and Tommy) have sided with someone they barely know over Tyrone.
How is it, that Tina and Tommy could walk into the Rovers, stand right beside a table full of people gossiping about their friend, and not one of them notice the two of them standing there?
Anyway, I've never liked Fiz' character. I guess she's supposed to come off as 'quirky', but I find her totally annoying. You watch the upcoming prison scenes between her and Tyrone. Ty will tell her she's better off without him and she'll cry and wail and wring her hands. All the writers need to do do is dust off the John Stape scripts, scratch off John's lines and insert Tyones name in their place.

Agreed the fact the the entire street believes Kirsty is beyond stupid, especially when they know her history. Very poor writing. It's not fun or entertaining to watch.

After Kirsty refused counselling, there was only one way for this story to go. Guess it will drag on until the Rovers fire. Of course, she could leave the street alive, but when has a character ever done that when they could have an 'explosive' exit?

Agree with all the Comments... this is terrible writing...and I, too don't care what happens because everything is ridiculous AND predictable. Ty/Fiz/Ruby/Kirsty...Faye and her dad, Rob, Gail losing her money to Lewis... just all lazy writing -- even if recycled... at least put in a couple of elements which make us CARE what happens... I only watch now when I'm just about ready to hit my head on the pillow ... no reason to be that alert ... just like taking a swig from a "safe", tasteless, lukewarm cup o' water before going to bed... :-(

Now I know these two are supposed to be love’s young(ish) dream and the viewers are supposed to be rooting for them full of sympathy but I just find the pair of them irksome, annoying and totally selfish. If stupidity were an award, these two bumbling fools would be A leisters. Did Tyrone just forget about the £200 odd he paid for the tickets, how much money do they have? How do they think with today’s media and technology they will get away with it. How fair is it on a toddler and a young baby to be shunted around in the cold in low rent accommodation – they don’t care about Hope or Roobay – its all about them , Frosty lost interest after the mobile phone farce.

Thankyou above agree with you all. I think the writers thinking is that the others who are siding with Kirsty can't possible comprehend that she could actually be a basher. But the story lines are turning off alot of viewers which is a shame and I am one. I tape and fast forward through most of it - a shame as this is my relax down from a hectic work shift. It was my one pleasure but I'sorry Corrie writers you are just disappointing. Bring back some old magic please. I have played some old episodes on dvd and see real acting - so how about listening to your viewers PLEASE.Liz

Any idea when Phil Collinson's drivel will be well and truly over and Stuart Blackburn in command?

But I'm guessing it will take a very long time for story lines to fade out so we could be watching the fall out of his rubbish for a very long time?

I guess my question is does anybody know how far in advance the story lines are written let alone filmed? Because we could be watching the programme on ffwd for a long time yet :(
