We've received some very sad news here at the Coronation Street Blog.
Chris Canavan, the longest serving extra on Coronation Street has passed away. Chris worked as a background artiste on Corrie for 51 years.
Canadian Coronation Street fan Christine Warren who runs the Coronation Street Fun Pages, secured an interview with Chris a few weeks ago and as a tribute, we're linking to the interview on Christine's web site.
As well as the interview, there's a tribute song written and sung by fellow Corrie extra Pete Reidy.

RIP, Chris. And thank you Coronation Street Blog for directing us to the Background Artiste interviews. They're fun to read.
How sad that he didn't get to see the new studios. Well at least he had a great experience over the years with lots of changes. I must say I hardly take any notice of the extras so i,m surprised he got recognised all over the world.
The longest serving extra ove 50 years sevice

R.I.P. Chris We will all miss you.
