Tim Metcalfe - goodie or baddie?
I know it was inevitable that we would meet some of Faye's family sooner or later, but personally I think it's great they have decided to bring in Joe Duttine as Faye's father. Yes, I know the actor was previously cast as a policeman investigating one of Gail's stupid husbands (I think it was Joe, the one who drowned), but the part is significantly different for it not to matter in my eyes.
I know the extended Windass family have their knockers on here, if you pardon the expression, but I rather like them. They come across as a lot more real and believable than some other characters in Coronation Street at the moment. Anna is a great character and I like Debbie Rush as an actress. I also think Ellie Leach is terrific as Faye - I'd love to see her give Nasty Norris some more cheek! And I will always have a soft spot for fellow ginger, Gary. However, I do not like Owen one bit and long for Eddie to make a return! Even the odd mention these days would be better than nothing!
Anyway, so far I have found the scenes with Anna, Faye and Tim intriguing. I can't decide whether Tim is going to be a nice guy and a dutiful father or if things will all go pear shaped before too long. There was a little look of quiet menace on his face during his confrontation with an over-protective Anna the other night that got me wondering. Mind you, I quite like a bit of menacing now and then. I also wonder where social services and the adoption people fit in with all of this - we haven't seen much of that yet have we?
So what are your thoughts on the arrival of Faye's real dad? Are you looking forward to this plot development? And do you think it will all end in tears?

Ooh, good question - definitely a goodie I think. Boo to Anna!
Do we know his background as FayE's Dad, did he leave the family or wasn't in the picture. Why was FayE put up for adoption if her bio Dad was around and obviously wants contact with her? Did I miss the episode where this was explained?
I don't know the answer to that either - either we both missed it or they haven't explained it all yet...
Mixed bag. Tim may be playing the long game. Perhaps he hopes by befriending Faye (which is genuine), he can also worm his way into Anna's household. Instant house, family, relationship. As Owen is so unlikeable, it would be hard to care if he's elbowed out the way. As for Anna, I don't feel she has been written very sympathetically here. Surely she would know that banning a child from doing something would have exactly the opposite result. I can't put my finger on it but I find her very irritating.
Ever since the whole surrogacy story started, Anna is another one who has had a personality change. She used to be quite nice ... now she's irritating as hell. And her babying of Faye is ludicrous. She's suffocating her. BAD move.
So far, I like Tim. He seems to be on the up-and-up. Of course, I suppose the writers can turn him into a nasty villain in a couple of weeks. *sigh*
As for Owen ... he's way too much of a control freak (whether he's in his good guy persona or his bad guy one).
I'd love to see Eddie suddenly float back onto the Street. :-)

As he is playing it at the moment it could hi either way . But if its to split Anna and Owen up then I'd love Eddie to come back and cause even more complications
Why do you call her FayE ??????????
I am really hoping he's a goodie..good for Faye and Anna..then they can give that dirt-bag Owen the boot.
I don't know if i trust him. There's just something about him that makes me uneasy. He can't be after money because Anna doesn't have any and Owen doesn't have a lot, not after paying for the surrogacy. I don't think he's a paedophile but I can't think what other agenda he could have. I just get a funny feeling.
It's not likely to happen, but I would like a happy ending here. Tim and Anna fall in love, Faye gets her Mum & Dad, and violent Owen gets kicked to the kerb.
Not going to happen, but that's what I would like. Don't like Owen with Anna, don't like Owen with anybody. I guess I just don't like Owen!
I noticed on the second part Monday when Tim told Anna about Owen roughing him up and threatening him that the next scene showed Faye on the steps taking it all in.
I'm expecting Faye to drop Owen in it with social services, she has enough on him for beating her over the fish pond and now she has Tim's admission to Anna that Owen assaulted and threatened him.
Next thing Faye will be taken into care and Owen could be charged with child abuse at the very least.
Anonymous - I thought the exact same thing about Faye telling her dad that Owen had hit her a while back. I'm sure that will be used as a bargaining chip at the very least.
Oh please don't make him a pedophile. I couldn't take it. That would be awful. Yes it happens. Yes it's terrible and I've worked with children that it happens to. But please lets have happiness on Corrie for once. Don't make it dark and murky like EE So please producers don't make him a pedophile. Give us a happy story.
I've had enough of the gloom. So I'm hoping he's a nice guy who will run off with Anna in to the sunset and batter Owen into a pulp on the way (I said I wanted a happy story :))
The Windass/Armstrongs are behaving like members of some creepy cult that beat up on anyone who tries to break into the inner circle. Seems to me that Tim, at this stage, is the only one acting like a grown up. Of course, he could turn out to be a nutter after all, but in the meantime I hope he sorts out Owen big time.
She's called FAYe as that's what Eddie called her on her birthday cake, he'd written FAY on it then Anna told him her name had an e on the end so he had to squeeze one at the end, so that's why, I tried to find a pic of the cake but couldn't... hope that helps ;-)
I thought it was because Anna - didnt she SHREIK yesterday - Frosty had to turn the volume down - calls her FayEE. I like Tim so far, seems a gentle kind of guy - so hope he doesnt go through the usual character transplant and FayE can be happy. Fed up with Owen now who thinks violence and intimidation is the answer to everything. About time this character went now, he has had his time.
Lots of anti-Owen comments here! He really isn't a likeable character is he?! I agree about Anna, she has changed since the Faye story, she was nicer before. Although originally she was part of the family that terrorised Gail's husband. That has all been forgotten!
Thanks Flaming Nora!! It has been bugging me for ages:) Couldn't work it out!! (Bring back Eddie:))
Re Owen; I used to loathe him with a passion, now I find him tolerable but can't imagine ever actually liking the character. These days my groans are split between Tracy, Stella and Rob...
There was an explanation of Tim's previous absence when he first turned up but it was quite fleeting. something along the lines thatb FayE's mother was a drug addict and that's what drove him away. At that point I guess further contact was lost.
Thanks! I hope they go into that in more detail as this story progresses
I'm liking Tim so far. There is a good storyline potential that has so far been spoiled by the slightly creepy closeness of the Armstrongs/Windasses as well as Owen's thuggery. I too would like to see Anna + Tim get together eventually. Owen is a nasty, arrogant bully.
Aren't they going to do the storyline that the real Tim was this Tims cell mate in prison? I've heard this is what's going to happen :O
