Coronation Street's 10,000th episode

This year, Coronation Street celebrates two major anniversaries.

The first is the 10,000th episode of the show which will be aired on February 7th.  It's an episode written by Corrie writer Damon Alexis-Rochefort and will be an hour long.

Damon writes on Twitter:

Deeply honoured to have had the privilege of writing this, our 10,000th episode! It’s on Feb 7th so don’t miss it - lots of nods to the show’s unique history, and as much classic Corrie humour as I could cram in to an hour’s ep!

Plus the second major anniversary this year will be Coronation Street's 60th birthday on December 9th.

I've got my fingers crossed for a lovely fan event organised by ITV.

What would you like to see happen either on or off screen?

I just read that one of the quads is going to be diagnosed as being deaf. How can the writers sustain this ridiculous storyline. First the quads, when the writers do not know what to do with one or two children in a family (note how many times we wonder who is watching the kids when all possible adult caregivers are in the pub) and now special needs for at least one of the babies.
This storyline is outlandish and wearing thin on me. What do the rest of you think.... good move by Corrie or maybe a bad decision to go down this path.

This is great news, I enjoy Damon's humour. I'd love to see something nice happen to an underused character like Toyah.

Bad! It seems that no one can have an ordinary, let alone a happy life. It feels to me like now the babies are here, and they've done this promo stuff, the script writers are desperate for something else to keep them in the storylines.

Why can we not have entertainment only, why must everything be a public service announcement/ after school special. I think the writers have bitten off more than they can chew with the quads. Sadly it will take away from any chance of storyline for little ones like little Liam or Joseph. Why can't Corrie just use the people they have already? All those children, but no bring in 4 more babies!
Oh my.... as for Toyah. I literally forgot she was on the show at all.
