Andrea's secret double-life finally exposed

Next week on Coronation Street, we'll get to meet Andrea's husband as her secret life is going to be exposed.

We'll find out that Andrea has been married for 20 years and her husband Neil arrives home from Nigeria.  We'll also see Lloyd ask Andrea to move in with him.  And while she intends to tell Neil that their marriage is over and she loves Lloyd, it might not be as simple as that.

Hayley Tamaddon, who plays Andrea, says that if Lloyd finds out about Neil: "I hope he will be able to forgive her, but I’ve just filmed some really heartbreaking scenes between them. Who knows what will happen and whether he can forgive her?"

Hands up viewers who actually cares that Andrea has a husband who has been working in Nigeria or Timbucktoo for that matter??. A pointless vanilla character that to my mind has been a waste of time.

Imagine our surprise! Is there anyone who didn't see this coming? The only thing not predicted was that the husband had been in Nigeria, but then, we weren't supposed to know there was a husband!
This has been a pretty flimsy, silly storyline. We can only hope it improves.

Wasted opportunity. Whatever were they thinking of? I often get the impression that a few ideas are thrown up in the air and if something better comes along, the ideas that need working on get chucked. Andrea, Jenna, Dennis, Gloria all got rough treatment.

Yes and how many times has Lloyd 'loved' or fallen in love? Can he not be given a different kind of storyline please ? One that is not an affair of the heart ? Craig Charles has loads to offer - the banter and chemistry between he and Simon G is perfect - they are very entertaining . But now I see his 'daughter' has been dropped , just as he's found her . Bet she gets forgotten along with Michelle's two sons - one of which was her 'real' son. Anyway PTB . Give CC better storylines.

Frosty, I don't think Andrea is a pointless character. She has been allowed to settle in slowly, and the storyline has taken time to unravel. In the meantime, she has been seeing Lloyd which makes her conflict more easy to understand. Or would you rather her estranged husband reappear a week after Lloyd and Andrea got together?

What I'm wondering is whether she has a teenage daughter. Did I just read that as part of the promotional hype, or did she and Steve discuss her daughter in her early scenes?

I have to say I have been so enthralled with the Barlow/Connors..and the Windass storylines I did not miss Andrea at all. Once I know that she was not brought in for Steve it did not matter to me to be honest.

I would rather see Steve and Lloyd start up a new business or do something of interest that doesn't involve women. They are great together and should have more screen time as themselves.

Wasn't Andrea meant to have a daughter in her late teens/early twenties? I'm not keen on the sound of this storyline--cue arm-folding and catty That Andrea comments from sourpusses Jenna, Michelle, and Eileen. Will have to see how it goes. Smelloid

I suppose as pleasant as Jenna has been. I don't condone violence but I never could figure out why Jenna was so anti-Andrea to start with. I suppose the whole 'protecting her dad" or whatever but Jeanna was never nice to Andrea.
