Marc Baylis confirms he's leaving Coronation Street

Marc Baylis has announced that he is leaving Coronation Street.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning today, Marc said: "It will be with a heavy heart that I move on, but it's going to be an experience that I will treasure forever."

Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow, is also leaving Corrie this year, leaving fans guessing about whether Peter or Rob will be charged with Tina's murder.

Marc explained: "Chris and I are both leaving at the end of the year, around the same time. This is why we can openly talk about it because it doesn't give anything away. It entices everyone a little bit more. We're trying to keep it as open as possible so it's fortunate that we are both moving on to pastures new."

Will you miss Rob Donovan? I just hope he gets to marry Tracy Barlow first before he leaves as that could be fun to watch.

I'm disappointed, why did they make him a killer? I liked him with Tracy, enjoyed him in the shop and his little feuds with Peter. What a waste and another man in Carla's life gone.

After a lumpy start I am enjoying Rob Donovan's character and he has made Tracy into a watchable character too. What a shame he is having to go. I'm sorry he is.

I don't think I'll miss him or Chris Gascoyne. I just hope that they take Kate Ford with them when they go!

It turns out Rob is actually married to Charlie Stubb's sister and he will exact revenge on Tracy before leaving.

So Peter finds out Rob killed Tina, Rob kills Peter, Rob goes to jail.
Or maybe Peter kills Rob, Peter goes to jail.

I'm glad they kept Marc B's departure a secret if they knew some time ago. It was fun to speculate that Rob might be the killer even though we didn't know he was leaving. My guess is Rob is eventually exposed after Peter does a few months in jail.

Maybe Marc's heavy heart is because he didn't choose to leave (?) and no mention of a door being left open for his return. I wonder if Rob comes to a grizzly end. I might miss him by the end of the year. At the moment, I'm not too bothered.

I really liked the way his character was FINALLY developing, and now he's gone. This is getting old.

How upsetting! Rob has really come into himself as a character the past year or so. And his scenes with Tracy and Deirdre are wonderful.

Can we see some Rob and MARY conversations before he goes??

A lot of people have criticised this actor but Frosty thinks he has way improved and has now turned into a pretty interesting character. A great shame that yet antoher good character with plenty mileage in him is going, while some of the dead wood stays on and on and on............ I really dont know what Stuart Blackburn is thinking sometimes.

He has really improved his acting since he first started, and he is quite likable. Yes he even makes Tracy seem watchable. I don't know if he's leaving of his own free will, but if he is being ket go then it's a crying shame. SB really needs to go.

Rob entered the scene slowly, and wasn't at all interesting but he had picked up speed very nicely, and I'm also sorry to see him go; even Tracy seemed to be maturing or becoming less dastardly, which is a relief.
I'm really unhappy to see the less interesting, in fact darned annoying characters being kept on and on and on.
There need to be changes made other than removing characters with promise and keeping those that have long lost the ability to be such.

When he was a newly released from prison and miraculously had the skills needed to be an ace salesman, I had no use for Rob. Maybe it's the steady diet of stuffed marrows, but ever since he moved in with Tracy, Rob the businessman and brother and future son in law to Deirdre has become interesting and very watchable. Still don't buy his relationship with Tracy, but that's more on her end than his. He did it, soap justice says he's gotta go, but boy oh boy, how I wish it were Tracy with the pipe under the balcony. Wouldn't miss her one iota, and he could easily be re-paired. Thanks for keeping it interesting, sir, and good luck on your next venture.

Think the character has run its course.

We will probably see Peter kill Rob after it is revealed he was the one responsible for Tina's untimely demise.

This will leave the door open for Peter to return at a future date, but not Rob.

Can we please see some old faces leave the show instead of giving every new and/or recent character their pink slips first? Ron's only been around for a year and a half. Same goes for Karl, Mandy, Jenna, Stella, etc.

I know people love them, but if a characters leaving, diversify your selections. I know they're canning Dennis, and I know she's a matriarch, but let Rita go with him, and give finally give her the happy ending she deserves.

I'm also dissppointed that Rob is being axed while some of the'deadwod'characters like Gail and Nick who go around in circles in the same recycled storylines.Under the circumstances,I would've preferred if Tina's exit was a suicide rather than Rob being her murderer.

It's sad to see two actors like Marc and Chris leaving when we're stuck with the likes of Sophie and Maddeh, God help any other bloke who gets involved with Carla in any way, the all come to a bad end!
