1. St Ella of the Back Room falls for Rob whats-his-name from the factory and they quickly sail off into the sunset together. Sally invests her share of Kevin's lottery winnings into the Rovers, becoming the new landlady. I'd love to see Sally embroil herself in the affairs of the Lady Victuallers.
2. Sunita throws Karl out and reconciles with Dev. They leave the Street together with children Aldi and Netto, selling the Corner Shop to a mystery buyer...
3. Gail has some fun. Tricia Hopkins returns having bought the Corner Shop from Dev and runs it with Gail, who reverts to her maiden name of Potter. Together they relive their lost youth and the writers recall that Gail was once a businesswoman and has more to her than just skivying for her sons. She can still wear the tabard though.
4. Tracy-Luv is re-arrested for crimes against bad acting and repetitive storylines. She is immediately sentenced to life imprisonment without the viewers having to sit through another week-long "special" focussing on the trial.
5. Mavis Wilton returns to spend Christmas with Rita and Emily - cue some much needed Corrie nostalgia.
6. Carla and Peter reach the monumental decision to embark on a storyline that does not feature either Leanne or Nick. They celebrate with a couple of slimline tonic waters.
7. Archie Shuttleworth returns and proposes to Audrey. She accepts and they plan the wedding. The nuptials subsequently take place without any deaths, arrests, exposed infidelities or mishaps on the way to the church. Claudia Colby acts as matron of honour.
8. A fed up Emily whacks Norris on the head with the Christmas turkey. When he comes round his evil personality has been transformed and he spends the festive season doing good deeds for one and all.
9. Deirdre's pots finally achieve national acclaim. She opens her own business, naming it Blanche's. She appears in a special edition of The South Bank Show with Melvyn Bragg. Deirdre subsequently falls for Lord Bragg, declaring him to be a more interesting version of Ken.
10. Rita leads a traditional Corrie sing song in the Rovers Return. Although maybe not A Winter's Tale again...
So these are my ideas for the perfect Corrie Christmas. What are yours?

loving 'aldi' and 'netto' that will be their names from now on lol
love it all!
Love the idea of Sally buying t'Rovers - she could sure give Annie Walker a run for her money in the Biggest Snob category! Oooh, this could be a fantastic storyline!
Well I think she's still got the money - she was last seen trying to buy half of Underworld so it shows Sal's got ambition!
oooh, Sally and Gail should go into business together!
I love all of them!
Number 1 - Yes please. Sally as a landlady would be hilarious.
Number 5 now this sounds lovely. A trip down memory lane.
I love number 6. Bliss. Peter and Carla in a storyline that doesn't involve Leanne and Nick would be most welcome.
I would really like Deirdre to discover that Blanche has a sister she didn't know about. The lady should be very much like Blanche and move in with Ken and Deirdre.
She should bring some life back to the Barlow household.
Love the idea about Dreary's pots but maybe not nationally. I'd like to see Ken open a bookstore and Dreary could sell her pots along side - give them something else to do other than Ken sitting at the table either eating or reading and Dreary maybe not saying 'oh Ken' or 'oh Traaaceeee' so many times. I'd love t see more of Beth's son Craig, maybe doing weekend odd jobs at Ken and Dreary's shop, helping with the pots. Thankfully we haven't see the icky Paul lately but Eileen needs to get rid.
Fab post, really love your ideas. I would definitely like to see Sally running the Rovers and telling Kevin and co that work clothes are banned - whatever they're wearing. Sally's makes a wonderful snob.
In fact, most of these suggestions involve the middle aged ladies of the Street, a sorely neglected age group when it comes to story lines. So I'm all in favour!
I also think the ghost of Mike Baldwin should roam round the factory, wheezing 'Ducking and diving', sending everyone loony, and resulting in a hasty shut-down.
Dev and family should leave, selling maybe to Brian and Julie. I could see them as the new Alf and Renee. We need to see more of Craig and Kirk, and not just as comic turns. Michelle gets a job on a cruise ship and takes half the characters with her.
Norris definitely needs either a life altering scare or a painful and sudden death! :)
My only other addition to your great ideas is to have the faktry change into something from the 21st Century. Please, oh please?
My dream Christmas episode would be the return of three wise men (at least sensible) from the East (i.e. east of the Penines). Gail's dad to sort out the mess that is the Platts. Danny Baldwin to tell it like it is at the facktary. And last but not least a sober and world-wise Les giving life lessons to Stella in the back room of the Rovers (and she having to listen for once because she is gagged and tied).
Good point, ChiaGwen: where is Craig? He'd bring some fun to the show.
Well Janice, I like the idea of Gail's Dad returning to sort the Platts and Danny Baldwin returning to sort the faktry, but Les should never darken the Cobbles again, unless recast.
I agree I don't think we'll see either Les or the actor who plays him back on the cobbles again...
I like the Idea of Tricia Hopkins and Gail buying the corner shop! but I also like Brian and Julie running it like Alf and Renee!!
I am sure I have seen it in a corrie book , that Blanche has actually got a sister, I think her name is Beryl Linfield? can anyone confirm this? .... would be a marvellous idea if Auntie Beryl moved in with Deirdre and Ken, I always imagined actress Miriam Karlin playing Blanche's sister... don't know why! but sadly I believe she has passed away.
I still think a Coronation Street at Christmas boxset should be produced showing every christmas/new year episodes from 1960 onwards ..what a festive treat that would be!
All these storylines sound great! And absolutely correct, Blanche has a sister called Beryl Linfield who was mentioned from time to time but never appeared on screen - not even for Blanche's funeral.
I had forgotten Blanche had a sister! Perhaps now is the time to introduce her? If they make a point of providing this back story for a character it's a shame they don't remember the details down the line.
