Peter made his choice this week. He chose to stay with Simon and Carla chose to leave Weatherfield. It's a tough position to be in but Simon had to come first and Carla knew that the minute Simon ran into the airport terminal.
Weatherfield is poison for Carla, it was evident by how fast she fell off the wagon. We had a wobble on the cobbles between she and Leanne where she definitely got the worst of it. Best left hook I've seen in a long time!
You can see Carla's point of view but in the end, it had to be about Simon. More on that over here.

I can't imagine anyone really believed that Peter would choose Carla over Simon. It is a bit of a shock though, to have Carla return and vanish so quickly.
It would have been a brilliant end to the rape story if the actress were leaving the show, but she isn't. And what makes it all rather pointless is that we know Carla will be back on the Street within weeks, and can be fairly sure that she'll then settle in perfectly well, with any thought of feeling the country quickly forgotten about.
They should have saved this idea until one of the major actresses was about to leave, IMHO.
John McE is correct in that this is all rather academic and a waste of time as we all know Alison King wont be leaving but will be back on the cobbles within days or weeks. Its all becoming rather wearisome I am afraid.
Seems obvious that Peter & Leanne will have an affair - karma for Nick and Carla.
The scriptwriters don't seem to have caught up with the idea that the Publicity Department leaks storylines to the tabloids regularly, so nowadays we know who is leaving the programme months in advance.
i know, it's so poor and predictable you hardly need spoilers anymore. hardly edge of your seat stuff.
If you want spoilers just read the comments on this blog. The readers are 100% accurate with plots. Not that we are smart or anything. The writing on Corrie is so formula we see it coming weeks ahead.
So now Peter chooses Simon over Carla? What? He sobered up in the States, came back and then was going to leave again? What? The re-introduction of Peter and Caral was a mess and a waste of time IMO. The whole entire storyline from start to finish was done last year .. just the ending changed. No matter how stellar the acting in these scenes, I turned it off.
They actually should introduce a new category at the yearly soap awards. The "How many times can the same story be done with different character" award..that can go to the writing team who don't have a clue and just resort to putting together ridiculous story's in order to give some of the cast air time. Chesney and Kirk and the turkey's..how lame is that??
Of course Carla is coming back. The days when peasant folk could land in the US and start up a business have long gone. The US no longer accepts nor needs your tired masses and wretched rejects. Today there is a long queue of highly qualified people around the world waiting to get a green card. A woman with questionable English skills, a severe drinking problem and enough emotional baggage to fill a steamer will not be looked upon favorably, unless she is willing for a dollar-a-day with Mexican strawberry pickers.
