Coronation Street Spoiler: New owner for Corrie chippy
The previews are in for next week’s Coronation Street and there’s an announcement made about the chippy!
Interested in expanding his empire, it’s Dev Alahan who announces he’s bought the chippy, but who will be get to manage it?
Well, it’s Chesney who steps up to the mark and tells Dev he’ll manage both the kebab shop and the chippy for him.
But will Chesney’s panic attacks allow him to take on two shops, I wonder?

Good. I find Chesney has grown into an utterly boring old man before his time. When he was a kid, he was smart and it seemed he was going to have a bright future. The character hasn't worked for me, for years. Here's hoping this will be a positive change for Chesney.
Why would you buy another food outlet just across the road from your first food outlet? Doesn't make any kind of sense to me.
Oddly enough it does. If the two outlets sell different types of food they're not competing yet you can get better deals on bulk purchases of basics, better prices on advertising, justify a delivery service and have employees you already know and trust going back and forth between them. If they sell the same food you can close one and only let a non-competing business setup or do that yourself.
It's cool that the show is remembering that Dev used to be quite the entrepreneur.
just not so long ago Dev was desperate for money and was hounding Zeedan and his mom as he could not keep up with his obligations. I know that the gym was sold, but Dev did not receive all of those proceeds as any out standing debts would have been paid first and the remainder split between the 3 partners (Shariff, Gary and Dev) with Shariff's possibly being lower due to the money he had already taken - but this would also be based on % of ownership. Sooo...my question is...how did Dev afford to buy the Chippy?
Hey, now that you mention it. Gary would have probably gotten enough to settle up with that builder and not keep returning for those Ukrainian jobs.
Seems to be another soap mystery. No mention of gary recieving a windfall from the sale and the chippy seems to have been ran by the invisible man for years
I've been watching Corrie for at least 10 years and until now, didn't even know it existed. Certainly don't remember any references to it.
Dev can afford the ‘Chippy’ the same way that everyone can afford to guzzle ale at the Rovers, gobble Cale’s at Roy’s or have fancy dinners at the Bistro when everyone complains of being ‘skint’. When money is required it falls from the sky. My friends and I have had a running joke about 10,000 pounds that always seemed to appear whenever someone needed money. Some unknown relative would die, or someone hit the lottery etc etc etc. It was always 10 Grand. It’s now gone up to 15, inflation hit Coronation Street.
