At last night's British Soap Awards, Kate Brookes spoke to Radio Times online about what's comng up for her character Kate Connor.
She tells Radio Times that there's going to be a new love interest for Kate Connor - and says it will shock viewers.
Kate said: "Trust me its not quiet any more! We are ready to go for this year! I'm not going to give too much away but there's definitely something coming on the love life front.
"It's going to shock people.
"I don't think fans will guess who it is and neither is Kate, but I'm really excited and want to embrace it - and hopefully this time it will be for the long haul."
I wonder who it might be? If it's being teased as a shock romance, hopefully it won't be Sophie as that would be too obvious. Gina Seddon, perhaps?

If it's Kate and Alya, zzzzzzz.
If it's Alya, then that's not really a shock as we keep seeing them together. I think it would be more shocking if it is a guy, but they sort of did that type of story with the whole Marcus and Maria fling. I guess this means they decided she and Sophie didn't work after all?

A married woman perhaps? How about pairing her up with Eva after the Aiden/Maria affair comes out?!

Ooh maybe the nice doctor at the medical centre? A bit old for Kate, mind you. Yes a married woman would be a surprise but also a man would be a bit ofa shock too but I hope they don't go in that direction. too much a repeat of Marcus' story with Maria.

Back in Jan/Feb they teased Kate getting a love interest but also said that it wouldn't be a new actress - implying it was an existing actress.
Alya--that would give a lot of scope for drama too, because she and Aiden have never gotten along. With Kate's support, she could make a move to take more control at the factory, especially with Johnny's illness. There could be a lot of speculation over whether or not Alya's just using her to get the factory, as well as a bit of angst from Yasmeen about not getting grandkids.

Marcus's identity as a gay man had already been established at the point where Maria tried to form a relationship with him. CS hasn't really featured a bisexual storyline, so if that turns out to be Kate and/or Alya's orientation, it could be interesting and new.
Kate's been 100 % identified as a lesbian since she arrived so if they went down the bisexual route it would have to be with Alya.
she wouldn't exactly be 'giving up on men' if she is bisexual, that's not quite how it works

Yasmeen has two grandkids - Zerdan and Alya herself!
It is obvious but the writers want to feel they are shocking us.....I say Alya. They may think it is a shock because she has had relationships with men and because of her religious heritage. But just look at how much time these two spend together! Definitely Alya.
Maybe Mel. Kate would be so opposite of Nathan and his cruelty.
So uninterested I actually read a spoiler. Aiden and Kate are two immature, dull people who could leave and not be missed.
As far as the Connors go Johnny and Carla have been the only interesting ones but Aiden and Kate have been the worst.
What about Liam and Paul? Liked them. Also, mammy & daddy Connor

I'm pleased it's not Sophie - having two gay characters in the street as friends and nothing more would be a nice change.

I agree that it is Alya, I commented this on the earlier spoiler in Jan/Feb. But by now who cares about either of these characters.

Looks like it is going to be Rana. They seem to be pushing Rana and Kate into more scenes these days.
