Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 03 July 8.30pm

Carla's announcement comes as a shock to some of the girls but it seems like just dessert for others. Peter is fuming at Carla's generosity. Even the 'un-shockable' Roy is shocked. Is this misplaced guilt or a way of getting rid of the long time burden of Underworld? Peter offers caution but it seems Carla's mind is made up?

Admitting Nick's 'confession' to Toyah and Shona, Imran's obviously taken the news personally and vows revenge.

Explaining Nick's brain injury to Imran, Toyah tells her boyfriend she thinks David is lying about his involvement in the roof sabotage but Imran is adamant Nick played a part.

At Trim Up North Maria seeks relationship advice from Tyrone with Dr Ali in earshot.

Geoff tells Yasmeen that he's saved £247 (how very precise) on the bills. However, he has transferred the money into the 'wrong' account and lo and behold he's now in control of the household finances!

Meanwhile, whilst explaining her share giveaway to Michelle, Carla receives a call from the police. They need to speak to her about the factory roof sabotage.

David visits Nick and promises to play devil's advocate with Nick's 'brain injury' plea and the factory sabotage rue. Admitting to Shona that his counterclaim against Nick isn't actually truthful either, his future bride wants nothing to do with his deception. Who will win in this Cain V Abel battle?

At the Rovers, a drunken Beth accosts Peter about the factory shares and he tells her that he's seeking power of attorney over Carla's assets, just as Carla walks into the pub. Maria and Dr Ali discuss her disastrous dating profile, and they reach an equal understanding (it's also a bit flirty).

At Speed Daal, Sean has joined Summer, Billy, and Paul on a family date. Paul feels jealous of Sean's presence.

Over a heart-to-heart, Peter and Carla battle over Underworld. She seems hell bent on giving everything up, much to Peter's annoyance.

Carla then opens up to Peter about her mental health battle, her hallucinations, and how it felt being homeless once she'd ran away. It's with this hindsight that Carla realises her recovery may take time, but she admits to definitely wanting her freedom back - and it must be outside of Underworld's control. Peter agrees.

Is this the end of an era for Carla and the factory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

I shall be back same time next week.

Can they tell us how Geoff managed to speak to Yasmeen's insurers without being told "sorry, gdpr rules mean we can't talk to you". :D

The scriptwriters ignore all rules as we know them. Which spoils our enjoyment because it is so completely unbelievable. Nonsense, in fact. We have to invest in Yasmeen being duped as well as the ease with which it happens. I don't think so...tripe served up for dinner. :(

How annoying was Peter bloody Barlow last night? For God's sake leave Carla alone for a minute plus no need to be do superior to Tyrone, he was only trying to be nice.

Beth is just vile, about time she got her comeuppance.

He won't leave her in peace, will he? He is starting to look like a control freak by 'caring for her'. I know from experience that you do have to very much keep your eye on the behaviour but also keeping her to himself is a bit suspicious. Peter is a bit above himself at the moment and what happened to his recovery? Or have I missed something?

And who are these "dozens" of people Carla employs? Ten at most, with machinists, packers and "manager". Plus, Carla's hard work seems to consist of a few boozy lunches and shouting at folk on the phone...

The plot line with Yasmeen and Geoff - it's been done before with Charlie stubbs and Shelley. Plus, I am so sick of the bickering Nick and David! It's so tedious to watch.
