Hayley Tamaddon, who played Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street, is a wonderful stage actor and singer. We saw her in Thoroughly Modern Millie at our local theatre last year and can vouch for what a presence she is on stage. You can read my review here if you'd like to.
And now Hayley has joined the cast of Everybody's Talking About Jamie in the role of teacher Miss Hedge. It's a gutsy performance and one I know Hayley will do well. It's a wonderful show, truly uplifting and beautiful, about a young boy called Jamie New. He's sixteen and lives on a council estate in Sheffield. Jamie doesn't quite fit in. Jamie is terrified about the future. Jamie is going to be a sensation - and he is!
Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight. With catchy songs by lead singer- songwriter of The Feeling, Dan Gillespie Sells, and book and lyrics by writer Tom MacRae, this funny, fabulous, feel-good, musical sensation has been wowing audiences and critics alike. Sixteen: the edge of possibility. Time to make your dreams come true.
If you can go to see this musical, do. It'll be the best thing you'll do for yourself in a long time, I promise.

I saw this show in June, and can vouch for the fact that it was terrific! Shobna Gulati (Sunita) was absolutely brilliant as Jamie's Mum's best friend (and sort of Auntie to Jamie). Go see it!
We saw it at the Sheffield Crucible during it's first run. A great show with some great songs.
