Time Corrie's Jenna was given something to do?
Isn't it about time the Corrie writers found Jenna Kamara something to do? Since her split from Sophie she has been very much a background character while Sophie has embarked on a whole new storyline helping the homeless and being pursued by Maddie.
I think we all agree that Jenna and Sophie were not a good match and I'm glad the writers split them up. However it would have been good if this decision had been made with some forethought for what to do next with Jenna.
Instead, Jenna has popped up every so often in the background of the cafe, without even playing a major role in the Croppers' storyline. Her dad Lloyd is enjoying a new romance with Andrea but yet again Jenna hasn't had much to do with that either.
When Jenna first came into the show she was a trained professional. Sadly this side of her character was lost when she sacrificed it for her doomed relationship with Ms Webster. I don't think Jenna is suited to working in the cafe. I think we should be seeing her trying to rebuild her life and career with the support of her father, out of the shadow cast by her now absent mum. Perhaps Kal could take her on at his new gym? It would also be interesting to see Jenna embark on a new relationship.
Krissi Bohn is a good actress and unfortunately I just don't think she's being given a chance to shine. She has a great sparring partner in her onscreen father, played by the wonderful Craig Charles. We just don't see enough of them together.
So what do you think the writers should do next with Jenna? Do you agree she has a lot more to offer?

You may have hit the nail on the head - Jenna and Kai. In some small way, I miss her mum, Mandy and her prohibitionist ways.
Unfortunately they bring in these characters for a certain storyline and then for some reason they are kept on permanently and then they just don’t know what to do with them. Its daft that someone like Jenna who is a young professional should spend her days working in a caff. She is not a bad actress, she needs a story beyond mopping up and heating beans
Yes, they should be setting her up to work with Kal; why hasn't Dev thought of this? Soap law is flexible enough to let Tracy Barlow off scot free, maybe there's a technicality that would allow Jenna to regain her license. She should also have some time with Andrea; they're pretty close in age and have Lloyd in common. I think they could be good gal pals.
Krissi Bohn has lots of potential but I think her character is going the same way as Dr Carter. She could probably get other work but is tied to Corrie. Eventually, her contract will expire and she'll be off. It would nice if the writers gave Jenna a chance and, more than that, astonishing.
Maybe she'll get a look in once Tina has gone!
Get rid of her and get Dennis back permanently.
They made a mistake in having Jenna as Lloyd's daughter instead of a love interest and Mandy was a big waste of time.
I think TPTB should keep Jenna and get rid of Sophie - she does nothing but whine constantly. For once we finally see someone on the street who is educated and they just let her waste away to nothing. Let Dev & Kal hire her at least to run the gym - with her expertise and personality she would be great and at least open up new possibilities for interaction with other characters away from the pub, the bistro, the cabin, etc, etc, etc. Same old, same old.
I think Jenna's character has potential and should be kept around for a while longer. I like the idea of involving her in the gym storyline and think that's a natural fit for her.
Or, she could decide she wants to retrain in something that will get her a job quickly and start taking some courses at the college where Steve and Andrea are. That would involve her more with Andrea, so that when Steve and Andrea wind up having an affair (more than likely where that is headed), she would be caught in the middle between her dad and her friend.
Unfortunately, she's now become the spare lesbian on the Street, much the same way Sean is now the spare gay man. As a comment above points out, it's difficult to develop a character that was created for a particular storyline and never given another one.
Nah..they're just waiting till her contract expires and then she's outta there. She and Sophie just didn't gel IMO and now that the Sophie has another girlfriend, Jenna is just collateral damage. Although, why Sophie is still around is puzzling ... she ads nothing to the show except aggravation.
Agree 100% Graeme! I think the producers recognised there is a spark to her, so kept her on when Mandy suddenly departed. But they don't know what to do with her! Having established her as a lesbian, there is no-one else for her to get involved with. And as it seems all plotlines now have to involve relationships and betrayals, they can't think outside the square and find her something interesting to do! I agree, though, working at the gym would be a good start...she is a career girl at heart.
Another actor underused while new ones brought in...does not seem fair.
I think she and Leanne could be good friends, and both if them need a bit of fun and a good friend in their life.
I am so so sorry... I tried to delete some of the posts...I had trouble and did not think any had posted at all! lol
I don't even remember Mandy leaving, it all seemed pretty rushed
They should either give her something to do or get rid.
She's little more than a 50 word extra in the cafe at the moment.
Then again, I think you could argue that there are a lot more characters who are also left idle in the background with little to do or who are absent for long periods.
The cast which numbers 70 plus is far too big!
Surely, even allowing for the demands of 5 eps a week they should be able to pare this back to a maximum of 50.
