Charlie Condou admits Maria and Marcus were never meant to last
Recently at the TRIC awards, Charlie Condou spoke to someone from BANG Showbiz about his current storyline to do with his affair with Todd Grimshaw. He admitted that Marcus loves Maria but knew it wouldn't end well. So it will prove when Maria walks in on Todd and Marcus next week. Marcus and Maria are meant to be viewing another house. Todd knows this and manipulates the situation so that he and Marcus are alone in the house. The inevitable happens just as Maria walks in, exactly as Todd had planned.
Charlie thinks Marcus realizes what Todd is up to on some level. "I think he's not stupid, Marcus ... he's already getting a sense that he's being played, and I think that comes out quite quickly. Todd knew that Maria was coming, but Marcus is very attracted to Todd and there's a lot of chemistry there, he can't keep away from him. It's head and heart in a lot of ways ... I think he's trying to fight off the inevitable. There's going to be a lot of heartache coming in the next few weeks."
Maria is going to take this very badly and may even come close to a breakdown, if the spoilers are correct. We know this will soon lead to Charlie Condou's exit from the show, more's the pity. There's been a lot of exits lately and a few more to come.

This could have been so much more but it's just sensationalist trash ... not worth even watching. Too bad Corrie has decided to go down such a dark and dreary road.
Some characters on Corrie only get major storylines when they leave eg: Hayley, Marcus, Dennis. If Charlie Condou hadn't wanted to move on - and maybe that was to do with low screen time - he and Maria would still be together but virtually unseen. If this ending to their relationship is the inevitable, it could have happened with a character who was going to stay on the Street with Marcus in one place, and Maria in another. As it turns out, Marcus and Maria weren't interesting enough for the writers to do anything with them until CC decided to leave.
So they bring in manipulative Todd, get rid of lovely Marcus, hmmmm, with so many things like this going on..they may as well call the show Corrienders.
Maria should go also..... Worse actress on the cobbles...
Maria also needs to go, another wooden mummbling character that is going nowhere. They should have written her and Marcus out to live happily ever after in their dream house far far away.
In a way I'm not surprised that Marcus and Maria didn't last as I thought they were better as friends rather than a couple.I also suspected that on Marcus' part it was a relationship of convience as he only became interested in Maria after he and Sean broke up due to Sean not interested in adopting a child and Marcus could get the family he hoped for with Maria and Liam. That being said it is disappointing that all the writers can think for Maria is heartbreak.Perhaps once Tina leaves as she does seem to take over storylines, the writers will have more interesting for Maria?
I am really disappointed that Charles is leaving....and that the Marcus & Maria storyline has fallen apart. Marcus & Maria COULD have become a magnificent long-term family...shame that one....
