The faces of Corrie in 1995

If you remember, last year I had a series of posts looking at the top 12 faces of each Corrie decade - the 1960sthe 1970sthe 1980sthe 1990s and the 2000s. For the next few weeks or so, I’ll be looking at the top 12 faces of each year between 1960 and 2013.

With thanks to Corriepedia for the information.

In 1995, 156 episodes were broadcast.

1. Fiona Middleton (110 episodes)
2. Vera Duckworth (108 episodes)
3. Jim McDonald (106 episodes)
4. Des Barnes (105 episodes)
5. Gail Platt (104 episodes)
6. Raquel Wolstenhulme/Watts (103 episodes)
7. Steve McDonald (102 episodes)
8. Liz McDonald (100 episodes)
9. Jack Duckworth (98 episodes)
10. Betty Turpin/Williams (97 episodes)
11. Ken Barlow (93 episodes)
12. Alma Baldwin (92 episodes)

Average age: 43

Note: This is the last time Betty appears in the top 12, after 17 years. This is also the last time Raquel (to date), Alma and Des appear

Is this really Liz's last aррearance? She was in 105 eрisodes in 1996 - or am I taking this too seriously? :)

To date? Alma is dead?

Fiona Middleton certainly burst through the ranks didn't she? I remember how over-exposed she was back then - a little like Stella and Tina more recently. Despite her dominance she was one of those characters who left little trace behind when she departed. I don't recall her name ever having been mentioned on screen since!

'To date' is after Liz's name and she's still in it. I didn't derive anything else from the way it was worded.

Interesting to see the average ages of the characters and wonder if the age will come down significantly as we get into the 2000s... or perhaps not, because as has been mentioned before, certain characters have appeared more because of their jobs - bar staff, cabin staff and corner shop staff may not have had big storylines but are in the background in almost every episode... Which makes me wonder how misleading these lists are as it makes it seem like characters had big storylines when in some cases they hadn't.

Wouldn't this have been Raquel's last aррearance in the toр 12 as she only aррeared in 64 eрisodes in 1996, maybe you mixed uр Liz and Raquel? Just saying like - I'm just enjoying it too much!!

I'm so sorry for the mistake. I must've mixed up Liz and Raquel.

Thanks to all who pointed it out! Keeps me on my toes! ;)

And I've changed the wording of 'to date' as well to avoid confusion.
