Coronation Street actress Patti Clare, who plays Mary Taylor, today launches Manchester Memory Walk - one of the biggest in the country.
Seven hundred people took part in last year's Alzheimer's Society event at Heaton Park, raising £50,000.
Patti, who plays Mary Taylor, said: "Dementia is a devastating
illness that has an impact on so many people in the Greater Manchester
area.
"The walk in the park is a great day out but also raises vital funds for people with dementia, their carers and local services.
"By getting involved and going the distance - there's a choice of
doing 2km or 10km - everyone can be part of an amazing event at Heaton
Park and make a difference."
Patti urged people to sign up at memorywalk.org.uk for the walk being held on Saturday 28 September.
