In next week's Coronation Street, Carla will propose to Peter. And as well as marriage on her mind, it's a merging of business with pleasure that she offers Mr Barlow with a new job at Underworld. Will it work? Who knows? All I care about is what a wonderful wedding this could turn out to be!
Over at Digital Spy, Alison King, who plays Carla Connor, talks about the current bookies storyline and says it's Deirdre who gives Carla the idea to propose to Peter. Good one Deirdre. It's great to see more of her instead of as just a tea-making drudge for Ken. She'll be playing the harmonica again soon, just you mark my words.

Oh for goodness sake - another Street resident working at Underworld - to do what exactly - be in competition with never have a coffee mug out of her hand Michelle - please - I thought she got shut of her bruv cos there wasnt enough work - now she is taking on her boyfriend? These factory stories are becoming ludicrous now.
It really could be a wonderful wedding! I love Carla & Peter together.
It's great to see both Alison King and Julie Hesmondhalgh talk about Carla and Hayley's unique friendship in their new interviews. It would be wonderful if Hayley is involved in the wedding.
As for Deirdre; she is superb! I loved her scenes with Carla and Peter on Monday. "Just think of me as Switzerland in glasses" LOL
The Deirdre & Carla scene was very cleverly written and there was a very endearing moment which took me by surprise.
I also loved her telling Tracy and Rob to get lost.
I could do without yet another totally unqualified resident working at the factory. Give him a week and Peter will be bringing in huge orders.
Deirdre is absolute magic at the moment. Loved the way she booted Tracy and Rob out the house. Are tptb working her more into Peter's storylines in the event that Ken doesn't come back, and Tracy ends up in jail?
Didn't Carla's give her binman boyfriend a job at the Faktry in the office? She was vile to him..treated him like her personal slave and was very demeaning, so they split up and he left town. I think he left with Janice B...not sure.
There really should be one beautiful wedding on Corrie this year. I hope it's Carla and Peter's!
Maybe Deirdre could play the harmonica as Carla walks down the aisle??? Haha!
No idea if Eileen and Paul's wedding will even go ahead (?), and I doubt Stella and Karl's big day will be a success, for obvious reasons.
Keeping my fingers crossed for Carla and Peter though. They are made for each other! And the actors work so well together.
I suppose it could be a nice change seeing Peter work somewhere else, although I am finding it difficult to imagine him working in Underworld. However, I'd really like to see Peter and Carla succeed, while the dreadful Rob and Tracy fail and get what they deserve, hopefully.
Had to say, thought the scene between Carla and Deirdre last night was incredible, spot-on writing, and the acting between both ladies, was as usual, superb.
That interview with Alison is very interesting, and I am very much looking forward to scenes with Hayley, despite how emotional they shall make me!
In fact, I really enjoy seeing this softer, empathetic side to Carla, interacting with Deirdre and Hayley. I think Alison King perfectly manages to capture the subtlety in Carla's awkwardness in letting her guard down, but at the same time, truly showing she cares, I find it lovely to watch.
Oh dear.. I think that I am the only viewer who doesn't like Carla and Peter together.. and still can't warm to Carla..

I don't like Carla either, Rebecca. :-)

Reply to Rosie - I agree, the C & D scene was excellent. I'm also looking forward to the Carla and Hayley scenes that are coming up even though, like you said, they will be emotional!

And wouldn't it be nice for a wedding to go as planned for a change?
It is tiresomely predictable and foreseeable when an "unpredictable and unforeseeable twist" is the set formula for every wedding.
I'd like to sit back and enjoy Peter and Carla's wedding, just like a proper (albeit uninvited) guest.
The only thing Peter is suited to be is a carpenter's helper. He acts like wood.
It'll go bad, you just know it. Leanne will have a problem with Nick on the stag night/hen night, the day before the wedding and knight in shining armour Peter will run to her aid and to see her and balls it all up. So predictable.
I like that they're getting engaged but Peter does not strike me as the type of person who would just shut up shop after working for himself for so long and go to work for his girlfriend at her business. If I were one of the factory girls, I'd be ticked off to see so many people less qualified than me going through the doors and straight into the office. I hope they give Sally some good scenes for that.
