Corrie's Katy Cavanagh gives birth to third child

The Sun reported at the weekend that Katy Cavanagh, who plays Julie Carp in Coronation Street, has given birth to her third child, a son called Jacobi.

The paper reports that Katy used Independent Midwives UK, a company that operates separately from the NHS, to help deliver the baby at home. And Katy has vowed to fight laws that could make independent midwives illegal after being impressed by the service.

New government legislation will outlaw such services if they do not have suitable insurance, which is often difficult to get.

"It's vital women have a choice of who cares for them during pregnancy and birth," Cavanagh said.

"I have nothing but praise for the NHS but they were unable to provide me with a known midwife or guarantee the birth of my choice."

Let's hope it's not too long before we see Julie back on the Street. Brian's a bit lost without her.

Congratulations to Katy, looking forward to Julie returning, loved her and Brian together, such a shame he's leaving, what happened about them running a green grocers together? I was really looking forward to that.

Do you think that there might have been a change of heart of getting rid of Brian? There's not been a peep since and whilst he's not a personal favourite of mine he will be missed - and let's face it there are TONS who should go before him. I was wondering especially since Ken and Kevin are off screen they could do with keeping Brian....

Well, I'm pretty sure Brian's contribution to the race-row was intended for Ken - the educated, objective observer's view. I'm glad the lines were given to Brian though, as he's all too often portrayed as a buffoon (plus he's almost Paul's brother-in-law). With the question mark over Ken's return, can we hope there may have been a rethink over Brian's future, for, so long as he is written well for, rather than just stuffing his face, he has a lot of potential, both comedically and as the straight voice of an educated professional.

I wish Brian wasn't leaving. Good to see him being involved in something instead of being played off as the fat idiotic buffoon. Wish the producer would change their mind and keep him on, he is not as bad as some of them in the show.

Another vote for keeping Brian on the show!
