Greetings and welcome to the Coronation Street Weekly Update.

Find out more about the Coronation Street Weekly Updates and why they've been written for th'internet since 1995 at

Kirsty’s back this week after Tommy tracks her down and begs her to come home.  He thinks he’s doing his mate Tyrone a favour and so when Kirsty does return, it’s up to Tina to tell him the truth about the beating beast of Weatherfield. Tyrone slams Tommy and Tina, tells Kirsty he’s cut them both out of his life and wants nowt more to do with them.

Unable to get any decent sleep at Eileen’s while Kev does his drilling and DIY-ing next door, Gail flutters her eyelashes at Eileen’s fella and tells him he can kip on her sofa. Eileen’s not best pleased when she finds out, especially as Gail’s milking it for all it’s worth, inviting Paul to stay for dinner and making him her special pie. There was a great scene when David strolled into the house and spotted Paul asleep on the sofa. It wasn’t very fair, but it was very funny, when he yelled “FIRE!” right into Paul’s ear.  “Your mum is one in a million!” Paul tells David to which he replied: “Yeah, but not in a good way.”

I’m loving Karl and Sunita together, it’s just so wrong but it’s very funny indeed. Karl’s firmly in the feckless fella category although Sunita can’t see it yet and I doubt she ever will. He’s lazy, a sponger, and Sunita blindly hands over £500 so Karl can buy 250 Chinese fire alarms off his mate, Tez.

And finally this week, Steve ups the ante when he thinks Michelle and Rob are getting too close. Rob swans around the street in his bespoke £350 suit which is ruined by a 90p cup of coffee when Ryan bumps into him in Roy’s caff.  But Steve notices the suit, notices Rob and Michelle getting on well and decides to do summat about it. He dolls up in his best suit, from wedding number four, and seduces Michelle on the sofa. What more could a girl want?

And that’s just about that for this week.

This week's writers were Chris Fewtrell, Carmel Morgan, David Lane and Jonathan Harvey.  Find out more about the Coronation Street writing team at:

I disagree about Sunitart and Karl, I think the scales are beginning to fall from her eyes - albeit slowly - Chinese smoke alarms indeedy!

Tina the Gob just cannot keep it shut can she, her and handsome but brainless Tommeh, didnt take him a nano second to use the information against Kirsteh. What a pair, with friends like them who needs enemies?

You'd think alarm bells would deafen Sunita when Karl tells her his mate is called Tez. Right dodgy name.

The two village idiots spending 500pounds on smoke alarms to re-sell...hope they are filled with the notorious lead and mercury that China loves to use and Sunita dies a slow death from handling them (of course before they are sold to anyone...) :)

Great comedic acting between Lloyd and Steve and Steve in all his scenes in this episode.....though I have to say I was disturbed by his comment that he didn't want to lose Michelle again....huh? was his choice to go with Becky.....oh that Michelle and her shiny, shiny hair....! :(

I thought the Gail/Paul scenes were lame. Her grinning like a cheshire cat trying to sound all coy and if.
Paul is a tool anyway..why doesn't he go to his own house to sleep?

Love Lewis and Aud...she's a doll.

Sorry, I just can't feel anything but disgust for Kirsty. So she was abused as a child? And? This is a reason to continue the cycle and just say "Awwww bless, she tries"? My ex was a drunk abuser of me and my eldest son. History of his parents would indicate that's where he learned it. So I should've stayed? pffffft! Took me 14 yrs to get enough money together to get the hell out.

I feel nothing but contempt for Kirsty. Having said that, I absolutely compliment the actress on an extraordinarily well-portrayed character.

Sunita and Karl are cringeworthy but like a car crash - you just can't look away. Perfect example of why a woman should be very careful what she wishes for! Now, Sunita has the added pressure of proving to the Street that she and Karl are a genuine item rather than merely lustful lovers. Good luck with that, gal!

Glad Sunita is getting used, she deserves it.

Anonymous, I agree....Gail's simpering trying-to-be-coy voice at Paul was simply revolting and apparently he only needs four hours of sleep after a night shift! Maybe that push down the stairs from David in the past has made Gail as dumb as she currently seems.

Have to agree, Kirsty actress is brilliant- love to despise her. But poor Tyrone, he's so afraid...liked the subtle camera work between him and that hot iron!!!

Gail. Well all I can say is yucko re. fireman seduction. On the other hand it's about time the comedy picked up- the kirsty-annoying Ryan-surrogacy trifecta plot lines were doin' my head in.

Go Steve! Hah hah!
