Greetings and welcome to the Coronation Street Weekly Update. Find out more about the Coronation Street Weekly Updates and why they've been written for th'internet since 1995 at http://www.corrie.net/updates/weekly

A million thanks go to Janet Waterhouse and Richard Whitbread who did a sterling job with the updates while I was my jollies.  I’m back now, have hung up my flip-flops for another year and so without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

Last week on Corrie all Lloyd had in the world was a job with Streetcars, a bessie mate called Steve and a beltin’ collection of Northern Soul tunes. This week he’s got a job with Streetcars, a bessie mate called Steve, a beltin’ collection of Northern Soul tunes and a daughter called Jenna. Mandy isn’t happy that Lloyd’s put two and two together after she and Lloyd put one and one together all them years ago to arrive at the conclusion that Jenna’s his daughter. And he’s not wrong.  It’s a lot for the trio to take in. Mandy’s grumpy and refuses to see Lloyd, Jenna’s confused and refuses to see Lloyd and Lloyd.. well, Lloyd’s over the moon he’s got a daughter and is ploughing on regardless after taking advice from Eileen while sitting in the Streetcars chair of shame.

Over at the Rovers, Gloria enters the pub into Lancashire Leisure’s pub of the year competition. There’s a suggestion box which punters can post comments cards into. It’s locked, but Gloria smashes it open, desperate to see what the punters have written about her and the pub. But she isn’t best pleased when one of the cards says that the landlady’s mother is both vulgar and loud. Vulgar and loud? Gloria?  After comparing the handwriting on the comment card against Norris’ own, Gloria deduces Norris is the one who left the snarky comments and promptly bars him from the bar.  She’s great, is Gloria, I love her.  “They don’t call me Golden Glo for nothing, you know,” she croons to anyone who’ll listen.

Baby-making plans are put into motion when Gary, Izzy and Tina pay a visit to the fertility clinic.  As a gesture of good faith, or so he wants them to believe, Owen gives Tina and Tommy five thousand pounds as a down payment on the baby, with the rest due when Tina’s up the stick and in the club.  He also moves in with Anna, leaving his flat free for Tommy and Tina to move into. How nice he is. How devious he is, and oh, how controlling he is.

Over at Underworld, Kirk and Beth share a snog in the packing room and he sniffs the top of her head. “You smell better than a pie,” he whispers into her ear. “You smell more gorgeous than the top of a dog’s head!” And who said romance was dead?

Speaking of romance, although this one smells like the other end of a dog to the one Kirk’s lyrical about, Tracy continues to get her hooks into Ryan. She’s stringing him along with snogs on the sofa to get at Michelle and Steve and it’s working. But when Michelle finds out Ryan’s spent cash he said he didn’t have on buying Tracy a bracelet, Michelle gives Ryan a rent book and tells him from now on, he has to pay his way or she’s chucking him out.

And there’s more romance, of a kind, with memories of Ken’s fling with Wendy Crozier back in the day when he was working at the Weatherfield Gazette. And now Wendy’s only gone and turned up again as one of the Governors at Bessie Street School. Brian invites Ken along to join the Board of Governors and Ken and Wendy’s eyes meet across the classroom. They’re civil to each other but as Wendy goes to leave the room with Ken still in it, stood up at the desk, the cheeky mare checked him out!  Oh yes, her eyes took in the full glory of the Barlow bum.  I don’t know about you, but I just can’t wait for Deirdre to find out her arch-nemesis is back on the scene.

And finally this week, Kirsty throws another tantrum and this time it’s not with Tyrone, it’s with baby Ruby.  Fortunately the baby’s unhurt but Kirsty’s violent temper ends with her throwing things around the room as baby Ruby cries in her pram.  When Tyrone comes home and sees the state of the place, he rushes Ruby to the doctor who checks her over and says she’s ok. Fiz finds Tyrone and Ruby sat on Maxine’s bench outside of the salon (that’s always a nice place to sit, I find) and invites him in for a cuppa where he confides to her about Kirsty beating him up.

And that's just about that for this week. Remember, you can sign up to get these Corrie weekly updates by email at http://www.corrie.net/updates/weekly/subscribe.htm

Kirsty’s back this week after Tommy tracks her down and begs her to come home.  He thinks he’s doing his mate Tyrone a favour and so when Kirsty does return, it’s up to Tina to tell him the truth about the beating beast of Weatherfield. Tyrone slams Tommy and Tina, tells Kirsty he’s cut them both out of his life and wants nowt more to do with them.

Unable to get any decent sleep at Eileen’s while Kev does his drilling and DIY-ing next door, Gail flutters her eyelashes at Eileen’s fella and tells him he can kip on her sofa. Eileen’s not best pleased when she finds out, especially as Gail’s milking it for all it’s worth, inviting Paul to stay for dinner and making him her special pie. There was a great scene when David strolled into the house and spotted Paul asleep on the sofa. It wasn’t very fair, but it was very funny, when he yelled “FIRE!” right into Paul’s ear.  “Your mum is one in a million!” Paul tells David to which he replied: “Yeah, but not in a good way.”

I’m loving Karl and Sunita together, it’s just so wrong but it’s very funny indeed. Karl’s firmly in the feckless fella category although Sunita can’t see it yet and I doubt she ever will. He’s lazy, a sponger, and Sunita blindly hands over £500 so Karl can buy 250 Chinese fire alarms off his mate, Tez.

And finally this week, Steve ups the ante when he thinks Michelle and Rob are getting too close. Rob swans around the street in his bespoke £350 suit which is ruined by a 90p cup of coffee when Ryan bumps into him in Roy’s caff.  But Steve notices the suit, notices Rob and Michelle getting on well and decides to do summat about it. He dolls up in his best suit, from wedding number four, and seduces Michelle on the sofa. What more could a girl want?

And that’s just about that for this week.

This week's writers were Chris Fewtrell, Carmel Morgan, David Lane and Jonathan Harvey.  Find out more about the Coronation Street writing team at:

Greetings and welcome to the Coronation Street Weekly Update. Find out more about the Coronation Street Weekly Updates and why they've been written for th'internet since 1995 at http://www.corrieweeklyupdates.btinternet.co.uk

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

You know that face that Betty used to pull? The one where she sucked imaginary air in through her lips and ended up with her face all puckered when she’d just heard something she shouldn’t? Rita pulled that face this week, the very same one, and for the very same reason.  She was stood at the bar, waiting for Norris, who as it happens, didn’t turn up – but more of that later. And as Rita stood at the bar with her drink, St Ella walked through to the back room of the Rovers with Sunita in tow. Yes, Sunita. Well, Rita was shocked and we were all expecting fireworks but Sunita bowed to the knowledge of she who has lived longer with Karl and took little comfort from St Ella’s words. “He’s yours now, you deal with him.”  Had Michelle Collins perfected her Northern accent, that quote would have read: “He’s yurs now, you deal w’im, kid”.  Sunita, given much to think on, walked out of the pub and back to Karl and the kids. It’s not a happy home.

Now then, we haven’t seen Roy’s mum Sylvia for weeks and then she turns up only to disappear again. She’s gone to Milton who’s in a state in the States, he’s had an accident and is laid up with only his housekeeper to keep an eye.  Not sad to see Sylvia go, Roy books her plane ticket and the next we know, she’s referred to in the past tense, by Mary of all people. I don’t know about you, but I’ve just pulled that face that Betty used to pull.

Having a cage dancer for a daughter-in-law hasn’t been easy on Gail but this week she defends Kylie when Michelle accuses her of dealing drugs, co-ercing cocaine on her Ryan.  Kylie denies all, she’s in the right this time too after Ryan lies to Michelle about where he’s got the drugs from. “You’re a wonderful mother to Max and you’re good for David, too” Gail coos to Kylie after a showdown on the Street between Kylie and Michelle.

Meanwhile, Ryan nicks cash from his mum’s purse to buy more drugs and meets an unwashed bloke up the ginnel to buy some more of these here drugs that are doing the rounds.  Just in case you weren’t sure that Ryan’s a bad ‘un, the hood on his anorak, ladies and gentlemen, was very firmly and squarely UP.  What more clear signifier of a rascal do we need? Hang him now.

However, Steve’s using Ryan's rascalliness (is there such a word? No? There blinking well should be!) to get into Michelle’s good books and under her duvet. He gives Ryan a job at Streetcars and sets him up to play his guitar at Nelson’s pub on Magic Monday when he finds out Ryan used to be in a band. Michelle thinks Lloyd’s the one to get Ryan the job and the gig, and gives him a big kiss under the smoker’s shelter. When she finds out it was Steve, she tells him she’ll think on about going out with him for a drink.

And now we head for the dark side of the Street with Tyrone’s violence at the hands of Kirsty taking a sinister turn as she wallops him with the attachment from the hoover. Not the little fluffy bit you add to the end of the hoover tube when you’re doing the stairs, this was the nasty long plastic bit that she picked up and hit Tyrone with, over and over again.  The next day he’s battered and very bruised and applying pain relief in the garage when Tina finds him and he confides that Kirsty’s beating him up. But as he swears her to secrecy, Tina doesn’t say a word. It’s a difficult position for Tina to be in but not half as difficult as the one Tyrone’s in, poor lad. He begs Kirsty to see the doctor to get help for her mood swings and violence and she pretends she’s been to see Dr Carter. But Deirdre knows she hasn’t, she saw Kirsty walking out when her appointment was called and when she tells Tyrone this, he and Kirsty argue in the back yard – just as Deirdre’s walking down the ginnel with Eccles on her lead.

As they argue in the yard, Tyrone pushes Kirsty away from him in frustration and she falls, hurting her head. This leads Deirdre to put two and two together to get 57 and she assumes Tyrone’s beating Kirsty, a notion that Kirsty does nothing to shake from Deirdre’s mind, in fact she seems quite happy in a twisted way that Deirdre should be offering sympathy for her fall.  Anyway, Kirsty makes Tyrone go to the pub while she has a lie down on the sofa but while he’s out in the Rovers, she packs to leave and calls a cab.  Tyrone arrives back at the house before the cab comes and there’s tears as he begs her not to leave him, but she’s honest at least in that she says he’s too good for her and that’s why she has to go, she hates herself for hitting him and can’t live with him because she loves him so much  And with that, she went.  But fear not, she’ll be back. Oh yes, she will be back.

Over at Emily’s, Norris isn’t best pleased when Tracy does the cleaning. He doesn’t want her in his room or anywhere near his stuff, and I’m on Norris’s side in this argument although Emily seems to have forgotten her god-daughter is a demented, psycho murderer. Mind you, so do most of the writers at Corrie.  Anyway, Norris gets Jason to fit a lock to his bedroom door and while Norris is inside his room, Tracy locks him in there. (And that’s why Norris didn’t turn up in the Rovers to meet Reet for a drink – see para 1 above!).  Norris and Tracy continue to wind each other up culminating in a wonderful line from Tracy after Norris deliberately wakes her up from a slumber on the sofa by getting the vacuum cleaner out to wake her up. “You’re a slap-head hoover Nazi!”  I’m going to use that line on someone this week, just you wait and see.

And finally this week, Mary helps out in Roy’s Rolls as with Hayley away, Sylvia gone and Anna on a day off, Roy’s on his own and grateful for her help. Mental Mary invites Roy to an Elgar concert in a town far away - Malvern I think it was – and she gets all giddy kipper when Roy says he’ll go with he. But while Scary Mary’s dreaming of a romantic musical getaway Roy puts paid to that dream when he tells her that while she’s only booked two rooms in the hotel, he’s booked three tickets for the concert as Hayley’s coming with.

And that's just about that for this week. Remember, you can sign up to get these Corrie weekly updates by email at http://www.corrieweeklyupdates.btinternet.co.uk/subscribe.htm

This week's writers were David Lane, Peter Whalley, Simon Crowther and Joe Turner.

Greetings and welcome to the Coronation Street Weekly Update. Find out more about the Coronation Street Weekly Updates and why they've been written for th'internet since 1995 at http://www.corrieweeklyupdates.btinternet.co.uk

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street update.

Eileen’s caught up in cabbie chaos this week when Lloyd turns Primo Cabs into Fare Ladies with its women-only drivers and Steve’s not best pleased. Especially when he finds out Lloyd’s nicked the Streetcars contract for the 1o’clock club along with one of their lady drivers, Gaynor. Gaynor? Tracy comes up with a cunning plan to get herself in Steve’s good books, giving Lloyd a sob story that she’s out to get Steve so Lloyd takes her on at Fare Ladies to work on the switch.  She’s only there five minutes and she’s sending the cabs to the wrong addresses and sabotaging the cars.  When Lloyd finds out what’s going on, he storms out and hunts Steve down at the Bessie Street school sports day where Steve ends up being chased around the field by Lloyd.  Both of them are hauled in to see the headmaster and ticked off for being naughty and so they make up, agree to split the cost of fixing the Fare Ladies cabs and Lloyd and his records move back in to the cab flat with Steve.  Eileen’s happy the lads have patched up because she’s managed to negotiate herself a pay rise, three extra days leave, the title of Office Manager and a free packet of Gypsy Creams.

Meanwhile, Izzy tells Gary she’s pregnant and he’s over the moon. I love these two, they’re brilliant actors and fabulous characters.  Izzy’s not right keen on telling dad Owen about the baby news just yet because she knows what his reaction will be. Owen’s scared of course, scared that Izzy won’t be able to cope with a baby and being a blunt sort of bloke, he doesn’t mince words when he finally spits out his concerns to his daughter: “You’ve only been back together five minutes and he’s not long been off his rocker!”

Anna’s more understanding, as Anna always is, but the baby news has blinded her to little Faye’s distress. Faye’s being cyber-bullied, by text and online from a couple of nasty little psycho-girls she’s got the misfortune to be at school with.

On the cobbles, Sean’s not doing himself any favours every time he bumps into Marcus who’s moved in across the street with Maria and Liam. Sean tries to rise above the hurt and pain he’s feeling after Marcus left him last week but can’t resist – and so doesn’t resist – having a dig at Marcus as often as he can. Oh Sean, pull yourself together and have some self respect.

Elsewhere, it’s little Simon’s birthday and while Carla means well, her birthday tea of humus and olives doesn’t go down with the lad as well as Nick and Leanne’s party in the Bistro with clowns and cake does.   There’s some wonderful scenes of Peter’s jealousy and torment towards Nick, especially when Leanne tells him they’re thinking of moving and taking Simon with them.  Peter gives Nick a good thumping in the hostess trolley and Gail can’t wait to express her utter and total disgust at the thought of Nick and Leanne back together. “Battersby’s not a swear word, you know,” Nick tells his mum.

As Carla struggles to cope with Peter going off the rails thinking he’s going to lose Simon, she’s got even more to worry about when he brother Rob turns up. Now then, Rob’s new, we’ve not seen him before although there was a brother mentioned once but his name wasn’t Rob. Anyway, this Rob turns up as he’s been freed from prison so he’s the soap bad lad and we’ll see how it pans out. He’s not edgy, tall or old enough for this fan to crush on him but there’ll be Corrie fans out there who will.

Beth and Tracy move out of No. 13 this week as Kev puts pressure on Steve to move into his new house. He offers Steve the full asking price on condition he can move in within 24 hours. It’s too good an offer for Steve to refuse and so the house is cleared but where will the girls move to? Tracy finds a flat in Tile Street but when she rings up about it, it’s gone – to Beth and Craig, who’re just moving in.  Ken finally gets his balls out of Deirdre’s handbag and refuses to take Tracy back into their home and so it’s left to Emily to offer Tracy and Amy the spare room at her house. Norris isn’t best pleased to have a serial killer under his roof and Tracy plays to his paranoia, waving a very sharp knife around in the tea table, ensuring Norris’ nose is kept well and truly out of her trough.

And finally this week, Roy and Mary cosy up in the cafe over chess as Hayley and Norris take to the dance class again. Mary’s friendship with Roy is upsetting Hayley, you can tell, but Roy seems oblivious to the attention Mary’s giving him, for now anyroad.

And that’s just about that for this week.

This week's writers were  Martin Allen, David Lane, Joe Turner, John Kerr, new writer Susan Oudot, Simon Crowther and Chris Fewtrell.

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week's Coronation Street update.

It’s all bubbling over at the Bistro this week after Nick prises Gail’s handbag open to rescue his balls as he tells Eva the cleavage he needs space and wants fun. He heads for a booze-up in town and drags David along, who’s still moping after Kylie walked out. The Plattilsley lads hit a lap dancing club where Nick spots Kylie doing her stuff in a lap dancey sort of way. Before David can see her, he steers his bruv out of the club and takes him back home, where he gets bladdered on his mum’s sofa.  As soon as David’s gone up the apples and pears to Bedfordshire, Nick returns to the club and has strong words with Kylie to find out what’s going on. Anyway,  Nick then puts her up in a hotel and sits in a chair by the side of the bed, watching over her. It’s all quite sweet really, especially as you know Nick’s looking after his sister-in-law only because he cares about his brother so much.  But that’s not how Eva the cleavage sees it when she finds the hotel bill in Nick’s pocket and a text from Kylie thanking Nick for all his help, a text that comes with three kisses on the end.

So, Kylie’s back on the Street and back together with David and they’re all pulling together as a family business at the Bistro to help Nick with a big Mayoral civic dinner going on. Even Sean’s helping out making Betty’s Hot Pot, having defected from the Rovers with the recipe after storming out on St Ella. And that’s when Eva gets her revenge. She pours peppers and chilli into the Hot Pot making it a Very Hot Pot indeed and that’s when chaos breaks out. David’s incensed thinking Kylie spent the night with Nick and smashes up Nick’s car, there’s a huge fight in the Bistro and poor Audrey and the Mayor don’t quite know where to look.  Not too surprisingly, Nick finishes with Eva, calling her vindictive, evil and unhinged. All of which she is, of course.

As Rita and Dennis make plans for their wedding, jealous Norris flies into a fit in the Kabin, spitting spite all over the sherbet bon-bons. When he comments that Dennis is too tight to buy Rita an engagement ring, Dennis disappears. And when he returns, it’s with the most enormous piece of finger-jewellery that Corrie’s ever seen, Elsie Tanner’s own engagement ring now becomes Rita’s. I was right touched by this scene.

Over at the salon, Maria gets a storyline that lasted all of one episode. Customer comes in, chats up pretty airhead then hairdresser and bland man go to Bistro for meal where she finds out he’s a big fat fibber.  All of this goes nowhere but oddly leads to Marcus paying more attention to Maria’s love life than Sean would really like.

Carry on Cringing continues this week as Sunita and Karl hole up in a hotel in Didsbury for a bit of afternoon delight while we all try not to gag on our chips. Dev then suggests to St Ella that she and Karl should come for dinner with him and Sunita where he rustles up a rack of lamb and karaoke Abba before insisting the four of them go off golfing for the day. How cosy! What fun! Not!

At Weatherfield Court, Leanne and Peter start their custody battle for little Simon, which turns into a slanging match as tensions run high. The judge says she wants more reports done and the case is adjourned for a few weeks. Ken tries and fails as peace maker between his warring son and Leanne.

And finally this week, Tommy and Rick the drug dealer storyline rumbles on. I’ve given up caring so if you’d like to read more, cast your mind back in time to the Joe McIntyre and Rick the drug dealer storyline. You remember, it was that storyline that went on for weeks, for far too long, that outstayed its welcome when all Joe should have done and Tommy should do is Call The Police. Recycle, repeat and reduce fans… to tears of boredom.

And that's just about that for this week.

And so without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation
Street
update.
There was sad news this week when Gordon Clegg turned up to break the
news of Betty’s death.  Rita’s in tears
in the Rovers when Gordon gives her the answer to her question when she asked
how Betty was: “She’s dead, Rita.” Emily helps Gordon form filling at the
council and everyone gathers at the Rovers for a farewell bevvy to barmaid Betty.
Thankfully, Corrie had the good sense and decency not to involve St. Ella in
this storyline and Steve offered to help out behind the bar: “For Betty”.  But when the Rovers regulars find out that
Gordon’s intending to have Betty buried down in that
London, they’re
up in arms and rightly so.  It’s left to
a gently, coaxing, teary-eyed Rita to persuade Gordon to do the right thing and
give her a send off in style, in Weatherfield. It’s what she would have wanted.
Meanwhile at the factory, Carla sets her perma-grin to max when Sally tells
the girls and Sean that she’s going to be buying Frank’s share of Underworld
when they come up for sale. “In a lot of ways,” she muses, “I’m the answer to
Carla’s prayers.” And soon she could become her worst nightmare. As Sally fusses
over the frillies and gurgles over gussets, Michelle and Carla swap looks over
the sewing machines, looks that suggest Sally’s stash of cash will be more
welcome in the factory office than Sally ever will.
With a bob or
two in his pocket now that Grandad Jeff Horton left Tommy money in his will,
Tommy rushes out and splashes the cash on a clamped out campervan, ready to
take Tina touring all over the world. It’s fair to say that the campervan needs
a bit of attention and Tina’s not taken with touring, not yet. Anyway, the van’s
parked next door to the Bistro and Owen’s getting a froth on because it’s
blocking his entrance into the unit that’s just been rented by a fella who’s hired
Owen to work inside. So, the said fella turns up, all beefy and dark. The sort
of fella that would be tall, dark and handsome if he was handsome, the sort of
fella that uses his fists to sort Tommy out when his campervan won’t move.
Tommy’s hit to the ground just as Tyrone
rushes over to see what’s going on and the shock on Tyrone’s face says it all.  “Do you know who this is?” Tommy asks Tyrone. “It’s
yer dad!” Tyrone replies, as Terry Duckworth makes his unwelcome appearance
back on the Street.  And if ever you’ve
wondered who did eat all the pies, I think we know now it was Terry, who’s
being played by Brian Blessed.
Down the
Street, the silly salon war continues with Audrey and David at odds, mainly
because of Kylie winding things up between grandson and gran. Audrey tries to
run her business from Mary’s motorhome and heaven only knows if there was hair clippings
left on Mary’s muu-muu.  The battle of
the barbering continues apace and causes no end of stress for Audrey, who gets
arrested and questioned at the cop shop and given an harassment order to stay
away from her own shop. Poor Aud. Kylie’s even had Owen take down Audrey’s
sign.
Alma must be spinning in her grave.
Mind you, at
the Barlows’ there are secrets being kept as Ken allows Leanne to spend time
there with little Simon. Peter’s against it but what he doesn’t know won’t hurt
him, for now any road.

Big story of the week has been the reveal of Frank Foster’s killer. I like the way this story’s been done because for a long time I figured it was his mum Anne who’d done him in and then Corrie bring in Jenny Plot-Device which threw me completely. It doesn’t take much, not at my age. And then Jenny disappears and his mum Anne goes berserk, apologising to Carla for her son raping her and then she tries to kill Carla with a huge kitchen knife. You never know where you are with that Anne one.  But it’s Sally who first finds out that Anne’s a murdering mum and as she tries to run from Anne’s bedroom after Frank’s funeral, she slips and falls on the landing carpet, knocking herself unconscious on the banister. Downstairs, Carla’s pleading with Anne to Put The Knife Down as Kevin, wondering where his wife’s gone, sneaks in through Anne’s garage door and ends it for Anne. Carla calls 999, asks for an ambulance for Sally, an arresting copper for Anne and a bottle of whisky for herself.

At Nick’s Bistro, Lewis gets his job back as meeter and greeter on Coronation Streeter and everyone’s happy, especially Audrey who is back together with Lewis but having to keep it quiet. So when Gail and David snarl at the news that Lewis is back working for Nick, Audrey has to do a pretend snarl too while giving Lewis the glad-eye and a cheeky wink.

Over at the Rovers, Karl and Sunita flirt across the pumps as money goes missing from the Rovers’ till.  Stella accuses all her staff of nicking dosh and upsets everyone, but it’s Karl who’s taken the money to pay off his gambling debts.  Sunita knows that’s what’s happened but she keeps quiet. And in return for her silence, Karl gives Sunita a kiss up the ginnel.  Oh, how I love slipping that one into an update.

Bacon barm Brian is a healthy-eating hypocrite as he berates Kylie for bringing in chips for Max at school and then gorges himself on a pie and a pint in the pub.  Kylie’s not best pleased having Brian tell her what she can and can not feed her son for school lunch and when Brian sticks his butty in about it, he ends up with chips and peas all down his front. He marches off home, covered in grease and green peas and Kylie decides to take Max out of school to teach him at home, where she can feed him all the chips his little heart desires. Until it clogs up, of course.

Meanwhile, Leanne tells Peter she’s going for custody of little Simon as he’s clearly too drunk to take care of his son. Whether Leanne is doing this out of the goodness of her heart for what she feels for little Simon or out of the badness of her heart for what she feels against Peter running off with Carla, well, it’s all kind of mixed up right now.

And finally this week, Tina asks Tommy out on a date. A proper date, requiring a wash, a clean shirt and with dinner and everything.

And that’s just about that for this week.  Remember, sign up to get these spam-free Corrie weekly updates by email at http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/corrieweeks/

The vultures are circling around Frank Foster’s head because he’s getting killed off next week. Which means this week all the usual suspects are being lined up and given motives for knocking off freaky Frank. I suggest it was Sally in the dark with the candlestick when she finds out Frank’s having a fling with Jenny Sumner. Or could it be Peter Barlow in the bookies with a dagger when he finds out Frank’s reported Barlow’s Bookies for fraud after Peter refused to pay out on Karl’s betting slip. Or maybe it’s Miss Carla Scarlett with the gun that does Frank in for being a beast. Or Prof Kevin Webster who plum goes and kills him in the garage with the spanner. And it can’t be Mrs Peacock because Corrie killed her off. Your guess is as good as mine but if I was making a bet at Barlow’s Bookies, my money would be on Frank’s mum Anne.

Now that Carla and Peter (CarPet)’s relationship is out in the open, their life takes on the mundane, everyday tasks that need doing and in Carla’s case, this means taking care of little Simon. She takes to motherhood as well as a duck takes to train driving, and in this particular duck’s case, he does not drive that train very well. Carla’s a bit tipsy from an afternoon tipple when she goes to pick up Simon from school and he wants nowt to do with this new woman in his dad’s life. So Carla drags Simon away from the school gate by pulling on his arm. He tells Leanne and Peter that Carla’s hit him but eventually he has to come clean.

Over at Steve and Tracy’s house, Steve tells his missus he’s moving out to live alone in the Streetcars flat. Tracy assumes this means she’s getting No. 13 all to herself but she’s assumed wrong when Steve moves the wonderful Beth and her even more wonderful son Craig in the house with her. Beth sets her sights on Steve, thinking there’s chemistry between them and Tracy does her best to encourage this, knowing full well that Steve will run a mile. Beth dolls herself up, lays the charm on as thick as her make-up and does her best to seduce Steve when they’re alone in the house. Steve’s terrified but in a wonderful comic scene he manages to wriggle free, this time any road. Beth’s an excellent addition to Coronation Street and her ever-silent, ever-eating son Craig, played by young actor Colson Smith, is comedy gold. And all this with Craig’s pet rat, Darryl too.

The stress of new motherhood forced Katy into running away last week and this week she meets up with sister Izzy in a park. There’s talk of their mum who left them when they were kids and Katy’s afraid she’ll end up just like her. Izzy assures her she won’t and lends a supportive hand, enough to get Katy to return to Ches and the babe. Now that post-maternal laundry has been aired, washed and dried, Anna and Owen do their best to help Katy and Chesney by looking after baby Joseph. Owen hopes this will get him back into Anna’s good books and her good pants, but Anna’s more steely that that. Although even her heart must have melted just a little when Owen built a fairy grotto around the garden pond for little Fay(e).

Pointless story of the week was Tommy going on a date with the blonde bimbo from last week. It’s all a ploy to get Tommy and Tina together, which let’s face it, I hope happens because that boy needs a storyline as much as a duck needs a new train to drive.

And that’s just about that for this week. Remember, sign up to get these spam-free Corrie weekly updates by email at http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/corrieweeks/
