Next week on Coronation Street, little Simon Barlow appears to be taking after dad Peter when he gets stuck into a bottle of wine - and ends up in hospital.
It all kicks off when Peter struggles to cope with Simon's disruptive behaviour including hearing about Simon stealing from Tracy. Simon then has a confrontation with headteacher Brian
at school and he runs away. Peter presumes he'll have gone to Leanne but
when she insists she hasn't seen him, they realise Simon is missing and
are forced to call the police.
Simon's gone back to the flat but when he hears Peter coming looking for him, he panics and hides
in the cupboard where he was looking for his toys. With Simon nowhere to
be seen, a desperate Peter insists on going back out to look for him.
The coast now clear. Simon comes out of the cupboard where he finds a
bottle of wine stashed by Carla. Still without news, Peter returns to
the flat where he's horrified to find an unconscious Simon on the sofa
with an open bottle of wine.
An ambulance is called, Simon's rushed to hospital and there's more chaos to come for Peter and Carla. Meanwhile, the situation draws Leanne and Nick closer together again. No Leanne, don't go there again!

For gods sake writers, stop sending characters to hospital all the time! And the whole child going missing has been done to death also. And how can Simon manage to drink a bottle of wine at his age. So stupid.
We know he is going to pull through, just any excuse for more hostility and giving characters more problems!
Sins of the father. If this doesn't make Peter see that the custody battle is hurting Simon, nothing will. Time to undig your heels me laddo
Does the Wee Lad Die?? X
He May Die Though? X
I'm pretty sure that Simon has ran away before? This whole storyline is ridiculous what child likes the taste of wine enough to drink the full bottle.
Kid sees them drinking all the time so it's natural but a bottle of wine? C'mon. And the picture..he's unconscious (yet another one) with the tell-tale evidence right there nestled in the crook of his arm? I suppose he'll be in the same room that all the other Corrie characters have been in over the past year.
This is a lead in to (I'll assume) Peter and Carla going into rehab and Peter leaving Simon with Leanne. I guess it's the best the writers (with their limited imaginations) could come up with at short notice. BAH..
This kid's face reminds me of the devil - I'm not surprised he's a lush. Okay, I am because I agree with the comment above that no child his age could get past the bitter taste to down an entire bottle of wine - ridiculous! Add to this the whole burning down the house, problems at school, and running away in the past and this kid should be taken way by child services, never mind left on the Street with Leanne!
Simon didn't burn the house down - it was Peter, in a drunken stupor that set the flat alight.
SIMON IS NOT A CHILD TO MESS WIYH SIMON IS OLD ENOUGH TO MAKE HIS OWN MIND STOP MESSING SIMON ABOUT THE LITTLE WEE LAD IS NOT TO BE MESSED WITH LEAVE HIM ALONE LEANNE HAD NO LEAGAL RIGHTS TO HAVE CUSTODY I WISH THE PRODUCERS WOULD WRITE OUT THE HOSPITAL SCENES PETER AND CARLA ARE SIMONS LEGAL PARENTS NOT LEANNE AND DEFINATLY NOT NICK TILSLEY
