Nick Tilsley - Mug of the week

Peter was not happy about Nick and Leanne. Considering how they had an affair behind Peter's back, it's not surprising. Peter was also really ticked off about Nick playing substitute Daddy and roughed him up a bit in a dark corner on the Street to warn him. Considering what Nick's done to Peter in the past, I can't blame him. Nick *did* scheme and plot to try to keep Peter drinking so that Leanne would leave him. Reprehensible. And you know? Nick's had that roughing up coming.

I can understand Peter being worried that Nick might supercede him in Simon's heart. Simon loves his daddy but doesn't have a lot of "like" on at the moment because of Carla's influence. I expect we're in for Peter's competitive gene to go into overdrive, fighting against Nick's influence. Simon, of course, likes almost everyone (except Carla) and Peter will see that as his affections being replaced. It may even lead to Peter and Leanne getting back together in the long run but due to Chris Gascoyne's leave of absence upcoming, it won't be for awhile. I'm guessing it'll be a Christmas reunion. That's kind of soap cliche so it'll probably happen.

Thing is, it's very clear that Leanne doesn't love Nick but Nick is going to take whatever he can get. Nick's going to get hurt yet again and there doesn't seem to be a way around it. According to a recent interview on This Morning (via Digital Spy) Ben Price admits it, he says that Nick knows the truth down deep. Ben also admits that he reckons Nick knows Leanne and Peter still love each other.

I guess that makes Nick the Mug of the Week, doesn't it?

Peter and Leanne will have one more tangle under the sheets and both realize they've made a big mistake. Peter then decides to talk Carla with him and go...where? Not sure about that but they leave together. Look forward to a heartbreaking scene at the airport as Simon begs Peter to stay.

Please stop criticising Coronation Street. It makes me so depressed.

When Leanne chose Peter though, I thought she really wanted Nick! Now she doesn't love him :S

If other people's actions make you depressed, stop reading these comments and take control of your life - before it's too late!

I actually feel badly for Nick, as he seems to have been trying to improve his relationships with at least some folk and Peter has been chasing his own dreams with little concern about others. It's no wonder Leanne wants his support.

I also noticed that in a scene in the middle of the Sean/Marcus debacle - who feels sorry for the selfish idiot Sean - that he had had a haircut, shows how the scenes are filmed out of sequence and made it even more unbelievable, that with the ham acting from Cotton.

I hope that Peter and Leanne won't reunite, it would be ridiculous and pointless now. I know that Leanne still loves Peter but I don't for one minute believe that Peter loves Leanne. Unless I'm watching a different show.
He chose Carla and the truth is, Peter wanted to be with Carla and his son. Obviously things haven't worked out the way that he wanted them to but that doesn't mean that he loves Leanne. I'm sure it doesn't work that way.

Peter has a connection with Carla that he never had and never will have with Leanne, so it would be disappointing if the writers ruined that now. I always felt that Simon was just about holding Peter and Leanne together after Leanne had an affair with Nick and Peter was starting to fall for Carla. Peter and Leanne were never good together in my eyes.

Peter is much better to watch when he is with Carla because you know that however selfish he is, he'd do anything for her. Their relationship is dangerous, destructive and disastrous at times but they have an intense love that's powerful and brilliant to watch.

Peter's connection with Carla was that they were both dependent on booze, he admitted it, she only does sometimes. And there's the attraction. But Peter and Leanne are far more family oriented and she, too, stuck by him through his bouts with booze and was a really good mother to his son who loves her and will always resent Carla. Intensity is something that usually burns out and it's not much good when you have a child to consider as well.

You always know exactly what is going on with the characters and their relationships, Tvor. You must be a psychologist. It's good of you to explain it all to us. Brilliant!

Tvor - I believe Peter and Carla's connection is much deeper than that. I still believe they have an intense love which is something Peter never had or will have with Leanne.

Simon was holding them together, and this may sound harsh, but in the real world, life is too short to stay with someone you don't really want to be with.

Leanne still loves Peter but I think that had it not been for Simon rejecting Carla and refusing to be without his 'mum', Peter would have been perfectly happy if Leanne was out of his life for good. He tried his best to make that happen when he banned her from seeing Simon, "I have to look to the future and I'm sorry Leanne but you're not part of it" were his exact words. He also sat Simon down and admitted that he had fallen out of love with Leanne.

So after all that has happened we're supposed to believe that Peter loves Leanne? That's just stupid.

We know that the characters' relationships can change on a whim of tptb but, at the moment, it looks like neither Peter/Carla or Nick/Leanne will last. Peter and Carla lived in a lovely secret bubble till they were 'outed' at the trial. Reality will eventually destroy their relationship. Nick and Leanne may rub along together for a while till they realise they were looking for different things. Of course, that could change if the writers decide Leanne becomes pregnant with Nick's child ...

I don't see how Leanne and Nick could last because we all know that Leanne hasn't stopped loving Peter. Sooner or later she will have to admit to herself that she doesn't really want to be with Nick.

However tempestuous Peter and Carla's relationship is, at least they love each other and want to be together. There is more chance of Carla becoming pregnant, which I'm sure Leanne wouldn't be very happy about.

Leanne has got padded protection around her heart at the moment, for good reason, but in time may realise that Nick was always the one. She and Nick have a history and connection that keeps pulling them together, not to mention far more chemistry than she ever had with Peter.

I'm disappointed that we haven't had a reaction from Gail to the reconciliation yet. It should be more explosive than Eva and Peter combined!!

I wonder if Leanne and Nick will still be together when Peter and Carla return in November/December? I think they will go for a 'shock' return storyline and I think Carla will be pregnant.
Peter and Carla will leave with 'nothing' in a few weeks time, so it makes sense for them to come back at the end of the year and shock everyone.
Leanne has fought tooth and nail for Simon and even though she won in the end, she still isn't satisfied. As much as she loves Simon, a part of it has been about getting back at Peter and when he and Carla leave, I wonder how she will really feel then?

Leanne would have been better staying on her own for a while with Simon, before getting into a relationship with a man she doesn't love. The child has been passed from pillar to post. He went from Peter and Leanne to Ken and Deirdre to Peter and Carla, then to Leanne with the Price's and now he's with Leanne and Nick.
