And so, for those who'd like their memories jogged, or for those who don't know and want to find out for the first time, here's what happened between Leanne Battersby and Nick

Nick and Leanne grew close. Once when they were in bed together, they had an unexpected threesome when Ken Barlow dropped through their ceiling and onto their bed. Ken had been chasing Leanne's dad Les through the roofspace after Les had let himself into No. 3.

Nick started writing to Darren - in Leanne's name - boo, hiss - and when Darren was released from prison he called on a terrfied Leanne. She was furious with Nick for putting her life in danger. Anyway, then Nick took a part-time job as a nude model, oo-er, at the local college where he met Miranda Peters. A jealous Leanne accused Nick of having a fling with Miranda and refused to go to his 18th birthday party.

He was - and always will be - a mummy's boy. He was young and daft and he married Leanne to spite his mum - but wait, there's more. When Leanne found out she was pregnant in 1999, Nick not only demanded that she have an abortion but he then told everyone she had miscarried the baby. By 'eck, eh? He then trotted off to Canada (good riddance, etc.) and Leanne stayed alone in Weatherfield, realising that she didn't love him enough to go with him.

And what did Leanne do with the cash? Did she pay the rent? Did she 'eck as like. She blew the lot in one night at the casino and that's when Steve McDonald introduced her to Jez Quigley who introduced her to cocaine and a mad plot to rob the Rovers emerged...

Thanks for getting us up to speed! As a relatively new Corrie watcher, it's nice to know some of the long Weatherfield history.
Hot darn, those were the days... Thanks for the reminders!
Wow, Leanne's had a heck of a ride when I read this.
Aww i always liked Leanne. I laughed when Nick said tonight that he used to run the factory with Mike and learned everything he knew there. He was rubbish at it and Mike sacked him!
I'd forgotten how truly horrible "Old Nick" was (?lived up to his name??). Wonder if NuNick will be any nicer - and to be honest, I think he's the better actor, so hope he gets a juicy storyline.
I'd like to see that Darren Watley come back out prison. I remember him really fancying Leanne and I bet he's got a score to settle with Nick. That'd set up a good story. Free the Weatherfield One!
Jasper, who's Darren Watley again? sounds interesting!
seapenguin, he was the guy who killed Nick's dad. He got out of jail a few years back and Nick started writing to him, pretending to be Leanne. Whatley ended up chasing them both around the Street before he got sent back to jail. He was a really good villain, it'd be good to see him back. He'd have a real axe to grind as it was Nick's fault he went back to jail.
Sounds good to me, Jasper - bring it on!
Bloody hell, how is Leanne only two years older than me?
And then of course on his next trip back to Corrie he had the thing with Maria, and the whole Todd/Sarah fiasco. I find it strange that Nick hasn't had a chat to ashley - after all they did share a house for a fair while.
Nearly right, Yoork --
Leanne is a heck of a ride...
Hopefully his stint on New Zealand soapie "Shortland Street" serves his 'acting' skills a favour! Happy to have just found this blog....dunno how come I've never found it before....love Corrie, and now it's on Free to Air tv here in Australia, I can watch it 5 days a week...YAY. Although I'm thinking we're about 4-6 years behind...but oh well, them's the breaks when you refuse to fork out for Pay TV..lol
Yeah, but... all that stuff is in the past. They grew up. Bad stuff happened, they learned their lessons. Leanne isn't about to go back to being a call girl - she's dedicated to being a good mom. Nick owns a growing business and wears a suit to work. He was reasoned and mature when he broke it off with Eva. They're not the same people they were when they were young.
Oh, and the writers and producers changed, too, which can lead to soap amnesia.
I dunno, given some of the (many) other baddies on Corrie, Nick doesn't seem that nasty. Besides, I agree with the above, they've both grown up and Leanne has certainly got a whole world of her own baggage!
Nunick is a better actor (IMHO) and seems a much more mature, kinder character but I have such a hard tim coming to terms with his ears. I realize this cannot be helped, but OldNick was such a cute and believeable momma's boy, NuNick looks a bit old and strange.
I must confess I was hoping Miranda would use her feminine wiles to seduce dopey Nick. She certainly looks like she would be up for it!
