There's a long interview with Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Barlow, over at Digital Spy today. It's one of those interviews with lots of words in it - but it doesn't manage to say very much. To be fair, it's a promotional piece for Leanne's Coronation Street storyline. Nick and Leanne get back together. Peter's not happy. Eva's not happy. Staple soap fare.
There were a couple of things however that this fan did find interesting. One is that because Leanne and Nick are getting back together, this means more interaction between Leanne and Gail. Jane Danson says it's the first time she's had regular interaction with Helen Worth, who plays Gail, in about 10 years!
And there was yet another mention of Leanne's step-sister Toyah Battersby, played by Georgia Taylor.
Jane was asked: "Georgia Taylor, who played Toyah Battersby, left Casualty last year. Do you hold out hope that she could return to Corrie one day?"
And she replied: "Always! We're such great friends and always have been. As an actor, I'm sure she's keen to explore other things. But if the opportunity came up and it was the right time, I'd be really hopeful that she would say yes. Hopefully one day - I'd just like Leanne to have somebody around who would be really on her side 100% of the time! From my point of view, it would be fantastic." And from my point of view too.
Should Toyah return to Corrie? The campaign to get her back starts here!

i would like to see toyah and janis come back especially janic lee needs her now buttercup canada

I would also like to see Toyah and Janice come back. Toyah has links with Maria and Fiz so it would make sense. Not sure where Janice would fit - perhaps then only a flying visit. Leanne needs Toyah as she has no female friends and that doesn't seem realistic.
Toyah back would be great! Not sure that Janice should return, though I do miss her. It would be interesting how Toyah has matured over the years after all her adventures and traveling.
By the way, is it just me, or are the Captcha thingies getting more and more difficult to read?-NN
You'd like Spider to tag along wouldn't you Flaming Nora!! ;)
I'd too would love to see Toyah return. Georgia Taylor has proved herself a talented actress with staying power - not all child actors have what it takes. She and Leanne would make a fantastic team again.
And, yes, Anonymous, I'm sure they ARE getting harder to read. I'm going to have to guess with this one!
Toyah return would be brilliant - considering how often Leanne goes to stay with her, it would fit in quite seemlessly
Toyah had an opportunity to return at Leanne's 30th birthday but instead we got this ridiculous story that she had missed the train! Dah.
I don't think there's a direction for Jane's character at the moment. Peter and Carla are leaving so I think the only thing the writers can think of is to put her back with Nick and see what happens. It's already been done and going back down that avenue is just stupid but it's soapland so what else is there but to bring couples back together over and over again (ala Victor and Nicky Newman Y&R) or murder plots and who dun its. This is my last year for Corrie sorry to say. It's been dismal and now they're killing off Lewis..no imagination.
So..I don't think Toyah would be an addition to the street.
I find it odd that both of Cilla's children have had babies and Fiz' nightmare marriage to John Stape (that ridiculous carry-on) without a mention of Les or Cilla.
I'd like to see her back too! Unusually for Corrie Toyah had some form of character progression. Initially a bad girl, she turned her life around. Arguably a more rounded character than Leanne.

I'd absolutely love for Toyah to return, as Leanne has got some huge plots coming up and it would see how Toyah became involved in these (hopefully not as involved as Stella gets in everything!).
