Odd story of the week time. There's a Coronation Street spoiler in today's Star that says Tracy Barlow and Beth Tinker will pretend they've fallen in love and living as a lesbian couple so that Steve doesn't throw them out of No. 13.
Apparantly, Steve will decide to sell No. 13 as he's strapped for cash, and he wants Tracy and Beth out. So, they pretend to be a couple and do their best to put off prospective buyers who come to view their home.
The Star says: "Not only do they flop around the
house with their arms around each other, but they also make the terrace
smell like a fishmarket. They hide kippers around the place to cause an
horrendous stench when people come to view the property."
Our un-named friend, that always unreliable Corrie source said: “It will be hilarious and the girls will
have a great time filming – it won’t be long before Steve begins to smell a rat – or the kippers!” How fun! Not! This fan thinks the only thing that could possibly redeem this dreadful sounding storyline is that Beth's son, Craig will be involved 'cos he's a marvel.

Surely this story is the same as Les and Kirk a few years ago.
Dreadful? I dunno. This has the potential to be a stitch-up.
My first thought - exactly the same as Les Battersby did - who are these writers - work experience? If its true I imagine this will be quite crass and tacky.
There's a bad smell about this story line - and it's not the kippers. Why should demonstrative lesbian lovers put prospective buyers off? Quite the opposite, it's been a happy house. Story written by men?
And the fish thing has been done before too, when Maude dropped one down inside a corner shop fixture as it was being renovated when Fred bought the shop from her and Maureen.
Hmmm, if played right, this seems like it could go down as a classic Corrie sort of thing, silliness and lots of laughs. Granted the lesbian-part couldn't of been done in the early years but with more tolerence and acceptance these days it could be comedy gold. Beth cracks me up anyways so to see her acting up... can't wait! ha ha ha
Definitely a potential Corrie Classic. A classic blunder. If true, there's yet another unexplained turn in Steve's fortunes then? And as others have said, what is offputting about a lesbian couple? Do the writers think it is catching? Dreadful.

Rebecca in TO
Reminds me of that scene from
"Room At The Top" where the prospective clients are being shown round, exaggeratedly nit-picking at everything to drive the price down.
Finally at the end of his teher with all the sniping, Joe Lampton in his thick northern accent retorts to the couple who had snootily pointed out a tiny hairline crack in the bathroom urinal:
"Ah well you know how that got there don't you? It's where someone once sh*t a brick!"
- Exit rapidly one unimpressed prospective househunting couple, with their noses firmly up in the air.
