Corrie actress Michelle Collins looks set to leave the soap to spend more time with her family. The Sun exclusive says that Michelle is fed up with having to commute from London to Manchester for filming. But she has just been given a new 12-month contract.
Michelle tells The Sun: “I will be in the show until this time next year. My daughter has her GCSEs next year. I want to be around to support her so I’ll have to take time out. I find it really difficult working in Manchester and then coming back to London to be a mum. I don’t want to unsettle Maia.”
This Corrie fan isn't sad to read that St. Ella is leaving. She's brittle, she's got a bad accent - that has never improved, despite what Corrie bosses might want to tell us in interviews - she's never fitted in and I've never warmed to her character. What do you reckon, our readers?
Post-blog edit: The official Coronation Street website are now quoting an official statement from Michelle Collins saying she has not said she's leaving Corrie. Oh well.
