Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 12th February

Eva is pretending that she's off to America on a beauty course when really she's going to go to Bradford on Avon (?) to gestate Toyah's baby. I hope Toyah's gonna be paying Eva's rent in her Houseboat? Air bnb? Thatched cottage? Eva'll have to remember she's supposed to be in the US and not update her Facebook page with "Wine o'clock with the ladies! Luv my girlies xxx" posts of a Friday night. Meanwhile, her beau is feeling some kind of guilty about what he's going to Billy, so he buys Summer some breakfast and tells her if she needs anything to come to him. He is unimpressed with Eva's plans to go to "America", telling her that he needs her. He then decides he's taking a sabbatical and is coming with her, to Eva's consternation. She tells him she doesn't want him to come  and then bins him off. After a chat with Peter, she goes round to apologise, but finds him cavorting with a Tinder WhamBam hook-up.

Comedy Dev has a comedy wig and tells Billy something about Kagagoogoo (reference for the kids, there), who agrees that Summer can go to whatever it is Dev's talking about (a fun run?). The Rev visits Dr Gaddas and asks for stronger painkillers, but she won't give him any more, so he's reduced to stealing from Izzy's handbag (perhaps she can give him the name of her dealer).

Craig can leave the house in 3-2-1-go. He makes Bethany breakfast, unplugging all the electric appliances as he goes. She leaves for work and Craig follows her, and then is reported to the po-po for hanging around the club. Jess goes to pick him up and then tells off her protégé for lying to her about his underage girlfriend's job (fortunately there are no scenes in "Tassels", Britain's most PG-13 strip club). Bethany is later sacked from the club, for which she blames Craig.

Sean is acting quite the wifey to Tyrone, doing the washing and making Tyrone Turkish eggs. He picks up the girls from ballet, and then starts making a Victoria sponge. According to Josh, Tyrone has a housewife "without the nagging" and is therefore #winningatlife. Note to writers: not all gay men are domestic goddesses. A guy has sent Sean some messages, which have been deleted from his phone and Ruby gets the blame. Is the upshot that Hope is doing all of this and blaming Ruby? Anyway, I guess none of it'll be sorted until Fiz comes back from the jungle her mum's.

In other news, Phelan and Gary are having a late brunch when the project manager comes in to say that another ten flats need to be built at the site of the Mill. The plans are to build the extra flats on the lake, which'll have to be drained, the lake that contains the corpses of Vinny and Andy. Gary clocks Phelan's reaction and vows to find out more.

And finally, Sally gives Tim a heartfelt speech about how her life is in Weatherfield, but she's prepared to resign from the Mayoralty and move away with her hubby. They ask the girls to move with them, but Rosie and Sophie, given that they're both well into their twenties, say they'd rather stay in Weatherfield. Let's hope Phelan meets his maker before the house goes on rightmove.

Rachel Stevenson - on twitter (sorry, no review next week as I'm off on me holidays).
