Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 5th February

Love isn't in the air tonight as no-one's feeling the pre-Valentine's smoochies. Rana pops around with handsome Imran to check that Zee hasn't choked on his own vomit. He's still alive, but Mr and Mrs Habeeb are coming for an impromptu Monday morning visit, as you do(n't). Zeedan promises not to tell her parents about the #Kana affair, but instead, he brings out the whisky and forces Rana to 'fess up. Rana's parents are upset, calling her selfish and wilful. Handsome Imran stands up for her (swoon) telling his parents that they're to blame. Zeedan threatens to name Kate in divorce proceedings and let everyone at the mosque know what's been going on. However, Hasan has other ideas, and says if Rana and Zeedan stay together for  a year, pretend everything's OK, then Mr H will fund Speed Daal, the cafe. Alya and Yasmeen return from relative-visiting and Zeedan makes out that everything is normal. Does he really think no-one's going to mention it to his granny and sis? Rana is horrified by her parents' suggestion and even more so that Zeedan wants to agree with it. However, Imran also thinks it's a good idea, and Rana comes back to tell Zeedan that she's come round.

I had actually forgotten that Zee and Lee were pals due to her past relationship with his dad. If Zeedan and Rana don't get back together properly, could there be traction for a Leanne/Zeedan relationship? We know Leanne has dated a father and son before :-)

Shona finds Maria massaging David's post-jog thigh cramp and is not a happy rabbit. She tells Maria about all the training she's been doing for the boxing match, which leads Maria to decide she needs some private lessons from Josh. Every crisis is an opportunity, Maria! In the meantime, Josh and David spar, and it's David who ends up asking for extra tuition. I really wish I didn't know where this was going.

It's not all hearts and roses in the pub either as Peter's stomping around after Leanne ate his melon (as it were) and he's still annoyed about Daniel and Carla (Darla? Caniel?), which in turn annoys Toyah. I am enjoying this storyline immensely because I like doe-eyed Daniel but mainly because of the sparking chemistry between Peter and Carla as they row about her one afternoon stand with Master Osborne. This quickly turns into a two-afternoon stand and then a date in the Bistro, complete with wine, which quickly goes to Carla's head and Daniel takes her home.

Meanwhile, Gemma's on a double date in the Bistro with Henry, Henry's mate, Hugo, and Hugo's victim, the snakebite-drinking Carly. At the same time, Chesney and his new pal Brian are having lunch.  Chesney overhears the despicable posh boys slagging off their girlfriends and revealing that this is all a bet. However, Henry tells Hugo where to go, admitting that really likes Gemma, but unfortunately by this time, Chesney has revealed the wager and Henry ends up with Johnny and Jenny's lunch on his head and Gemma ends up crying in the ginnel.

And finally, Gina's disappeared. I'm tempted to say good, because I'm a bit bored by Ms Seddon. Whilst it's important to portray characters with mental health problems, it's a bit of a story dead end, because every time Gina goes off her meds, there's only one way it can go (up up up, then down down down). Anyway, they find Gina in the police station, after she's been arrested for stealing a packet of fish-fingers. The only good part of the story is that Dev, who has been self-centred and thoughtless in every single one of his relationships, says he will take care of Gina, who, lest we forget, sent death threats to her own sister.

I love the banter & spark between Carla & Daniel, the scenes with Imran- he is definitely handsome and a great actor. The rest was -Meh

Gina could have been very 2-dimensional. As you say, up then down. However, the actress is finding something to work with and I rather like her now. Dev is always so wrapped up in himself that he doesn't notice what's going on around him. Guilt, affection, then love may be the making of him. Gina needs someone to adore her and why not Dev? Once their relationship is on an even keel, they could be like Tim & Sally, an odd couple that works.

I'll think you'll find it was her Step-daughter.

I really wish they'd pair peter back with Leanne. That scene was funny between the two. As we saw with her proposal storyline with Steve, Leanne can do comedy and the two if them bickering in the back room would be priceless. Was happy she called Peter a hypocrite. Good stuff, they have way more chemistry then peter and toyah

How did Yasmeen and Alya not notice that Rana had been crying? Itlooked so obvious, so not have them ask what was the matter seemed really odd.

Peter and Leanne were fabulous, and when she said right to Toyah that it's just not right to date your ex's sister (even if Leanne has to accept it). Quite funny. Toyah needs a better match - no chemistry with Peter.
