5 Reasons Why I Love Toyah Battersby

When Toyah Battersby came back to the cobbles, many fans commented on her dress sense and even though she did look a bit 'Sapphire and Steel', with the polar neck and pendant combos, I still bloody love Leanne's sister and here's why.

1. She is in a Vegan club. This is used for comedy and it does make you smile, when the gang arrive, pulses and all. But, I love the fact that Toyah is health conscious and that she cares about bigger issues than the pumps running dry.

2. She has counselling certs. Again, this provides comedy, as Toyah manages to get it into many conversations, but beyond the gags, she cares deeply about people. True, she thinks she can be the 'fixer', but it beats being the home wrecker!

3. Her sense of humour. Every now and then, Toyah comes out with something very sharp and witty. And it provides the perfect balance to some of the more emotive storylines she has been involved in. More later.

4. Her desire to be a mum. I know the Eva keeping the baby a secret story is stretching things, but Toyah's attempts to have a baby have been heartbreakingly real. Georgia Taylor has been fantastic and you really feel her pain.

5. She's a good all-rounder. The perfect sister, a down to earth aunt, an understanding partner, and a loyal and brilliant friend. If Toyah was related to you, or she was your pal, she would have your back all of the time.

Georgia Taylor is underrated in my book, as she truly understands what makes Toyah tick. And she is an absolute joy to watch. Toyah's clobber? Well, she is unique and I welcome her wearing hemp and other vegan friendly items, because Toyah is my favourite!

I agree that Georgia Taylor is a fantastic actor. I just wish the storylines and scripts involving Toyah were of a better standard:(

I agree, too, that Georgia Taylor is great, but she was given an impossible task. Trying to make sense of a ridiculous return with a most unlikely romantic partner. It says something that neither Chris nor Georgia can make the relationship sizzle. They both look awkward on screen. I had hoped that it was just a device to get Peter and Toyah back on the Street and they would split very soon afterwards. Toyah doesn't sit well as pub licensee; she should be in the medical or community centre. She's not allowed much of a sense of humour. I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia left this year to do other things on TV. It might tie in with Eva's baby.

I agree. Putting her with Peter was a mistake, they have zero chemistry.
They need to give her better storylines.

Humpty, I'm thinking along the same lines as you. The fact Georgia is a good actress and can obtain other roles, I can't see her enjoying this role (and criticism from the fans) for too much longer. She is a good actress; she knows the business and probably expected more from her return to Corrie. Toyah and Peter definitely need to break up, and Toyah has to get a good professional job in her field - that is the key to keeping this actress around. (Give the Rovers back to Liz for goodness sake, let's end this charade)

I love Toyah when she is away from Peter and pub chores. Haley helped out at the cafe from time to time but it was Roy’s business. The Rovers should be the same; she needs her own career and as Humpty Dumpty pointed out, there are medical and community centers right around the corner; no reason she can’t have a counseling practice, even part-time. Hate that she was the one to came up with the plan for Eva’s baby; so out of character for an otherwise smart and sensible lady. Don’t want to see what will happen if Eva changes her mind.

I think you need characters who are sane and normal. When every character is out-there, explosive, wild, colorful, has issues galore, is a criminal, it becomes a circus as Corrie almost is now and not a drama.

I wish I could feel the same about Toyah. I was really looking forward to her return. I find her as dull and flat as wallpaper. The obsession with having a baby has over powered and limited her character. And the pairing with Peter....well...let's get real. It was an extremely contrived, disaster of a storyline right from the start.

Putting her behind the bar at the Rovers, is another ridiculous decision. What used to be a strong point of neighborhood dynamics in the pub, is now just a lot of bland, blah, unmemorable scenes. And yes, they had the "girl" fight. But that to me was so poorly staged, it was laughable.

I like the actress but if she does go then who will next be wearing Emily's unused wardrobe?? Tee Hee I have hated her clothes and especially the big gray coat WTH.
