Why Bethany Platt might not return to Coronation Street
Last night on Coronation Street, we found out that Bethany Platt is staying in Milan with her uncle Steven. Fair dos, in the world of soap, as in real life, these things happen. And after actress Lucy Fallon played a blinder over the summer months in the grooming storyline, I find it believable that she'd be wanting a break too.
But whether Bethany returns or not, I can't say as I don't know.
What we do know and we've already blogged is that Lucy Fallon has been working on a project away from Weatherfield over the last few weeks.
You can find out all about it here.
So does this mean that Lucy Fallon has left the show, or just taking some time out, as Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster) is set to do in 2018 when she does this?
I do hope Bethany will return, but not until Sarah and baby Harry have left the house. Now that Shona has moved in and Gail shows no sign of moving out, it's going to be awfully cramped in that house!

Maybe she needs a break, I can't get over how many people live in one house like they seem to do. Is this how the English live no one leaves home and goes out on there own. Just curious!!
Yes, you would wonder how many bedrooms "upstairs" there actually are for the amount of people living in such a tiny house! lol
After all that Bethany went through,it's too bad that Sarah didn't take a break and spend some time with her daughter in Milan.
If Bethany doesn't return, perhaps Sarah and Harry will join her once it comes out about Gary and Nicola?
Otherwise it seems like a weak exit for Bethany.
I wish Lucy Fallon all the best in her future endeavours. I never warmed up to the Bethany character (nothing at all against Lucy) so I would not miss her at all if she did not return. Having said that if she does return could the writers please have her do something beside work in her Grandma's shop and live in Gail's house with no friends and no future.
Regarding bedrooms other houses with expanding bedrooms are
The Rovers
The flat where Steve and Liz live (as Moira lives there along with Leanne & baby)
Chesney, Beth and Kirk place
Dev’s house
And there’s probably more
I can't see TPTB introducing her character in such a big way, with Sarah's return, then giving her two major storylines (bullying, sexual abuse) and then her leaving. I can understand her wanting a break though.
Too many story lines in too many ultra short moments for too long. Takes forever for a situation to resolve. Therefore, never really get attached to many of the newer characters. And have a harder time trying to follow these days.
