The Manchester Evening News and their sister paper The Mirror are reporting today that Sarah Platt will find out she's pregnant in the coming weeks. If you don't want to know who the daddy is, look away now. Look. Away Now.
The dad, they say, will be Callum.
An ITV source tells the papers: “Sarah will be left with a heartbreaking dilemma as to whether she keeps Callum’s baby. The
decision threatens to tear the Platt family apart as they are already
struggling to cope with keeping evil Callum’s death a secret and now
have this bombshell.
“Callum was horrible to Sarah and would have
killed her if he had the chance. Now she has his baby inside her. It is
a great twist by Corrie bosses and in many ways not a baby Sarah
wanted.
“Could she learn to love a baby that is Callum’s or will she decide she has no choice but to terminate the pregnancy?”
The storyline featuring pregnant Sarah, played by Tina O’Brien, will dominate Corrie in the lead up to Christmas.

No, please don't let this be true! Just how many pregnancies can you have in the soap? The writers are really losing it if they can think of nothing but pregnancies. I suppose Callum's mother gets to find out etc etc. At the very least, we have to endure the Platts until Christmas.
"It is a great twist by Corrie bosses"
That's one way of looking at it I suppose. Seems more like a tired old rehash of multiple previous storylines to me.
Will she have an abortion? Will she miscarry? Will she have the baby? Will she hand it over to Callum's mam for adoption? I don't really care.
It is an interesting issue, though. Women who get pregnant by rape or by men who are nasty pieces of work have to deal with this decision. I wonder if they'll actually go the route of termination though they probably won't.
I agree with Tvor: it is a legitimate (if you'll excuse the word) twist on the tired old pregnancy trope and I can't recall Corrie doing it before (sure I'm wrong; they must have in 55 years. Sure someone will correct me).
Two words......birth control
Oh, for the love of God. How much more of the Platts do they think we can reasonably be expected to take? Even under normal circumstances this story would be scraping the bottom of the barrel, but coming as it does after nearly 12 months of near constant Platt overload, this just about makes me want to weep. The press release makes a point of saying that the story will dominate the screen leading up to Christmas, as if it represents anything different from the rest of what's gone on this year. Enough is enough, surely.
Terrifying thought......child of callum! We're all doomed!
Unwanted child by a violent man who is gone and will never come back. If she spends more than fifteen seconds wondering whether to keep it or not she's a fool.
Are the writers trying to tell us that sexually active, experienced young women and men in the northwest of England in 2015 don't know how to use birth control?
I agree with Anonymous - we are doomed and will have to suffer with the Platt family for eons. I think my time has come to say adios.
No one used birth control on Corrie and never gets an STD either. One or two incidents of Coitus is usually enough to get pregnant also.
I wonder if she'll hand it over to Callum's mum for adoption, she'll go on holiday to Canada and won't come back..... oh wait!
Can't wait for the new producer!!!!
I agree Beth, Blackburn should hhave left a year ago.The ideas, рlans and creativity from him and his team have comрletely stagnated now and рeoрle are deserting Corries in their droves, it's so sad.... Kate where are you? Come and save us!
This storyline has been dominating ever since Christmas! 10 months later and we're still dragging through it.
Please make it stop!
So Sarah lived in Italy for God knows how many years (with all those hunky Italian men!) and didn't get pregnant, yet a couple of bonks with Callum and she's up the duff?
The introduction of mobile phones has meant that being out of contact is no longer a reasonable option, so why on Earth can't the producers and writers accept that the majority of sexually active women of child-bearing age are on the pill?
This has gone beyond boring now. I'm so sick of the Platt saga. Please make it stop.
Have to agree with all the above on yet more Platt domination. I'm forgetting some other characters exist! I wish the body had gone off in the boot of the car too, it would have been a full stop to this dragged out saga.
The creative bankruptcy of the show over the last few years is embarrassing, it's time for not only a new broom but a complete change of direction. If the new producer doesn't come in and make some radical changes then I fear where the show will be in 5 years time.
Isn't this just an almost exact re-hash of when Shelley left carrying Charlie Stubbs' baby after he'd died?
Oh - and is Ailya preggers too or was that forgotten/missed by me somewhere?!
Here we go. Yet another horrible story line with the Platts. They make the women on this street look like a bunch of goofs who can not manage birth control at all. It is just unrealistic. There have been way too many "accidental" pregnancies or pregnancy scares.
I don't mind David and Kylie, and I even like Bethany when she has something good to do, but I'm having trouble warming to Sarah since her return. I don't usually like to comment on an actor's skills, but I fail to see many with Tina.
Sure, she worked up to a froth of anger for the live eps., but I wish she'd learn to use more varied facial expressions to go along with her lines. All I see is a sort of grimace at times and that's about it. She's been acting for a long time and I feel like she's coasting too much on her Corrie star status. Sure, she stuck with the show & I'm sure worked hard for many years. That just makes it more frustrating for me cause I like long-term classic characters, often look forward to when they come back.
An issue storyline needs some acting skills to carry it off, otherwise I might as well watch 'enders.
Hopefully we'll have some Connor clan development over Xmas too, and maybe some carols on the violin from mini-Blanche, who conveys more with her tone of voice & body language than most adults on the show.
no more рlatts! They should all be neutered! :)
As a woman, I am insulted by the writers' constant "accidental pregnancy" storylines. Do they think we are imbeciles? I am also insulted as a writer. Surely to goodness they could come up with a new idea. I agree with others that SB's departure is long overdue.
The last thing that completely dysfunctional family needs is another kid. I am so disappointed in this storyline. This is the best the writers can come up with? I know Sarah isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer but come on... She has been pregnant twice before why wouldn't she be on the pill?
At this stage it wouldn't surprise me if Sarah and Bethany are both pregnant.
CONDOMS!!!
NO, for the love of all that is holy NO, NO, NO more Platt-centric story lines (or story lines about flipping pregnancy)!!!
Maybe we'll have men рregnant next! Nothing would surрrise me about anything coming out of Blackburn's one track brain nowadays! Not a lot of love for him now, he has certainly gone quiet recently though
Sometimes birth control fails, people. It happens.
I agree with everyone's comments and this would be Sarah's third pregnancy[Neil Fearns,Todd] with a different father and she has the gall to say Kylie is common?
Since Callumwas a drug dealer and user, there was a missed opportunity for Sarah to be infected with a STD or even HIV\AIDS.Then she would be more happy that Callum is dead[because of her].
This is why I cannot live without my PVR....I can skip the commercials and the boring Platt storyline. Bethany alone wears way too much makeup for a 14/15 year old. Where do all those people sleep in any of these houses...like the TARDIS, is it bigger upstairs?
