When did Sophie get a head for business? Funny how they change people's characters to suit.
Ridiculous. Alya is a grown woman, not a 14 year old. And Gary is a complete jerk! And people may say...oh, it's the culture that dictates her and her family's response, which is also nonsense. If they can accept that loser Gary as a suitable husband for Alya, then they can accept that she is not a virgin. The writing is not consistent.
This was the first time I felt sorry for Alya. The show writers did a great job of showing the misogyny that she is facing. Gary wasn't just hurt and sad. First reaction: macho damaged pride. Then he wanted to shame her in front of her family. He treated her like damaged goods. How dare he? I hated him. Good job, Corrie writers!
And then her brother and grandfather also treated her like damaged goods. I can only hope that if Zeedan had been the one who had sex, that he would also have shamed the family, but I must wonder if it's just the woman with that expectation.
