Is Andrea the one for Corrie's Lloyd?
I don't know what it is, but the whole Lloyd, Andrea, Neil storyline just isn't working for me. I hate to admit it, but I did begin to fast forward through all their scenes last night.
I've always loved Lloyd. Craig Charles is brilliant in Corrie. His double act with Simon Gregson is a joy. It's a shame they didn't spend more time developing the Lloyd and Jenna relationship onscreen, instead preferring to focus on Lloyd and Andrea.
The whole story is just a big snooze to me and it's such a pity. Lloyd is crying out for a decent story to get his teeth into and I'm afraid this really isn't it. The actor playing Neil is great although I'm really not sure what this character's game is! I'm sure all will become clear in time, hopefully fairly soon though as it feels like this is being drawn out.
I do have a bit of a problem with the way both Lloyd and Andrea have dealt with Neil. Yes he is being painted as a big wet blanket who won't take the hint, but they are treating him cruelly at times. Given that Andrea in particular has cheated on Neil and broken up their marriage I feel like she should have a bit more respect for her husband.
Lloyd too has been rather harsh and less than understanding. As he acknowledged briefly last night, he knows what it is like to be messed about and dumped by a partner, so even though he was an unwitting accomplice in this mess, he should really be more sympathetic towards Neil.
I'm not sure what I make of Andrea. At first she was a breath of fresh air, mainly because she highlighted how atrociously Michelle treats Steve. Then things got complicated and her motives became unclear. I don't think she's a baddie in the traditional sense, she's flawed and human like the rest of us. At the end of the day though she basically just irritates me and I can't seem to get past that.
So what do we all make of this storyline? Are you enjoying it or do you wish we could move on to something new? Do you think Andrea is the one for Lloyd?

The Andrea character works my Very. Last. Nerve.
So you are definite not alone in that! :-)
Oh no - her character is all over the place, it's like they are trying to see what will work with her and nothing really fits. As for Neil, we've only known him such a short time that it's impossible to care whether he has a broken heart. Yet another mismatched pairing for Lloyd I feel:(
They should never have given the character of Andrea to an actress who was off on Dancing for Ice and likely to be in for the long haul. It messed up the continuity. We didn't know if she was after Steve and using Lloyd as a way in. I wouldn't be surprised if the writers switched the love interest to Lloyd after second thoughts - note how Michelle suddenly stopped being a shrew. Maybe the writers were working on what exit story to give Lloyd and this fitted better. Neil is being made out to be weird so that Lloyd and Andrea will be vindicated in everyone's eyes when they flit to escape him.
I feel like njblas; don't really care.
Sorry dont like Andrea. She has been disjointed since she was introduced, first after Steve and then jumping straight into bed with his best mate. Then we get all this behaviour with her barking husband who nobody knows or cares much about, her daughter is hardly mentioned. I just hope she doesnt become a permanent member of the cast. That grinning drives me potty. Just an irritating character I am afraid and we have enough of those already!!!
I don't like Andrea, I can't warm
To her or the storyline . I love Lloyd though and I agree he needs a better storyline than this one . I feel sorry for the actor who is playing Neil because although he seems to be doing a good job - I don't think he can work out the characters motives , and neither can I . Fast forwarding is the best way I'm afraid.
Not liking Andrea, just can't take to her,I don't think she's fitting in. Craig C deserves better than this.
Don't know why they got rid of Jenna only to bring in Andrea.
Lloyd is a lovely bloke and should have someone to care for him, but not Andrea.
Lloyd is the male version of Maria - always put with the wrong partner. Both deserve better and both deserve a decent story line.
As for Andrea - if she had any respect for her husband Neil, she would not have cheated on him to begin with...so no, I am not surprised she shows none now.
I love Lloyd too, but Andrea just gets on my nerves and there doesn't seem to be any chemistry between them at all.I find myself fast forwarding through their scenes together and wishing she'd bog off to the Philippines. The only woman I've thought suited Lloyd was the lovely Liz McDonald, but I guess that ship sailed a long time ago.Pity.
Last night I was willing Andrea to go off to the Philippines and for Neil to move in with Lloyd.
I actually like Lloyd and Andrea together but I think it was a mistake to write her as cheating on her husband as it automatically makes the character unsympathetic. Once they move on from that she and Lloyd might actually be a good fit.
Have to say though, I don't agree that their behaviour to Neal is cruel. They have both been as kind as they can about an unfortunate situation up to this point but he has now crossed the line into harassment. Too often this kind of behaviour is presented as romantic but it actually shows a complete lack of respect for the woman and her wishes. If they had called the police then Andrea would have a good case for harassment/intimidation because he is effectively stalking her. He would probably at least get a caution given the circumstances.
I liked Andrea, and could still if they would quit with the useless story around her. I think she should have evolved into a decent relationship with Steve and let Steve toss Michelle. Michelle is far more irritating and annoying to me than Andrea. In fact, for at least three years now, I have been FF'ing anything with Michelle in it. It appears to my mind that the writers dug themselves a big plot-hole moving her to a relationship with Lloyd, and are digging deeper still bringing Neil into it.
It does seem a bit like the writers always screw up Lloyd with any relationships outside of Steve and Eileen. Mandy didn't work and didn't last long, Jenna was never developed well with him and they ruined that character changing her into a lesbian role with a crummy character (Sophie), Cheryl was another disaster for Floyd. Why?
I too find Andrea irritating and not a good fit for Lloyd. Said many times before, Jenna should have been his love interest, not his daughter.
I agree with Caroline - Liz MacDonald and Lloyd were perfect together. As an older woman with a younger man for the past 20 years, I am living proof that there is no reason why that relationship could not have worked. Lloyd is a bit older than Steve and he and Liz worked together in spite of the suggested yuck factor of Lloyd being Steve's best friend. There have been much yuckier pairings - Danny and Leanne, Frankie and Jamie...Give Lloyd and Liz a life together. I thought perhaps things might have been heading in that direction when Liz left Tony at the builder's yard to support Lloyd when he was still heart broken after finding out Andrea was married.
I really don't like Andrea. Then again, I'm not too fussed on Lloyd either.
I had high hopes for Andrea at the beginning as she seemed like a breath of fresh air, but the character just isn't working for whatever reason and I can't see a way back for her. And whilst I like Lloyd this constant ever-quickening roundabout of failed romances they've put him on is becoming tedious.Andrea will be off soon I daresay and he'll be back to the crying into his pint routine and getting a rallying talking to from Steve/Eileen/Liz/Michelle for the umpteenth time, vowing never to fall in love again, until he does a couple of months later. Great character and I'd hate to see him go but they really do need to move him on or ship him out.
At first I liked Andrea, she was happy go lucky and easy going. Thought she was more suited to Steve despite quite a few at the time saying she was better suited to Lloyd. Now her character is all over the shop and just not liking the storylines at all --Smelloid
Andrea needs to be struck by lightening. ASAP.
Dont like Andrea, she is just an irritant. Some characters you warm to and some you dont and some grow on you. Andrea is in neither category. Rather like Gloria and Stella, she will never be liked. But I suspect her poor husband will become such a sad sack stalker driven mad by their break up that Lloyd and Andrea will flee to get away from him, hence giving Craig Charles the opportunity to record Red Dwarf, then return hopefully ALONE in six months or so.
Don't like Andrea and the storyline with her wet Nellie of a husband is enough to cure insomnia.
I agree.
These comments are quite strange as I find Andrea very appealing. It's the storyline that is irritating. Find her something interesting to do outside the relationship story. She'd be great behind the bar for instance. And at some stage we'll be meeting Jess, her daughter, presumably.
But get rid of Neil the stalker. Or show a realistic side to harassment - this is creepy behaviour, not comedic.
As in 'real' life...relationships are sometimes not easy and cheating goes on... So...to me..this is a believable story...I have liked Andrea since she entered the Street...yes...she cheated on dear Lloyd...BUT...he has forgiven her and they are back together...let's see where their relationship goes now...'maybe' this will end well...for a change!
Well, I seem to be the only one actually liking the Neil-Andrea-Lloyd story lines! I'm loving it; mainly because it cannot be taken seriously (!!Obviously!!) so I'm constantly amused by Neil's gall! Ie turning up at THE most inappropriate times! It's humour, surely?
