The current Coronation set is to re-open to the public in March 2014 - it says here.
The Corrie set at Quay Street’s Granada Studios site is to open to the public as a tourist attraction. The set will be open for tours from March 2014 for 6 months until September 2014.
An ITV spokeswoman has today confirmed to us here at the Coronation Street Blog: "Construction is nearing completion on the new 7.7 acre Coronation Street site at MediaCityUK, with the production due to move across at a date to be agreed.
"After the production has moved to its new home, and subject to planning permission, we are looking into the possibility of opening the current Coronation Street set at our Quay Street site as a tourist attraction for a limited period, giving fans the opportunity to walk down the famous cobbles."
City centre councillor Kevin Peel said: “I’m really pleased that the Corrie set is going to be open to the public. We have long believed that the set would make a viable tourist attraction. Corrie’s millions of fans would flock to see it, bringing money in to Manchester’s economy. I hope we’ll be allowed to have a drink in the Rovers!”

I visited the original Granada tour and it was fantastic then and will definitely want to revisit the old set next year
Wow this is amazing. Only just heard about this. Already posted on the other link. This should have been done ages ago as soon as it was announced Corrie were moving the set to Media City IMHO. This is what I said. Comments/thoughts? :)

Only just heard about this today. BRILLIANT news. Good luck with the planning permission etc. I’ve been wanting and hoping for this for a LONG time and would actively support this very much, especially if it were made a long term thing. I totally agree it would be brilliant for Manchester tourism. There are a LOT of hard core Corrie fans all over the world. I’d even thought of asking @itvcorrie and @alijcorrie (Corrie press office and publicity) if they would support some kind of Corrie museum with outfits and props etc as an added attraction, perhaps with an added (or included) entry fee and perhaps some part of that could be donated to Children in Need or one of Corrie’s favourite charities? That, too, would be an excellent idea. How about considering it once the more important stuff has been sorted out and you’ve had a chance to see how successful it is?
Would be amazing if this could be a long term proposition. Good luck with that.

So hope this news is true. Planning a trip from Australia and this will definite be on our list to visit. It would be a wonderful tourist attraction not to mention what it would do for the surrounding economy. Let it happen. Ali from down under...
