What has happened to Audrey Roberts? The fragrant crimper of Weatherfield’s most famous cobbled street appears to have vanished without trace.
I know we haven’t seen much of the Platt-McIntyre’s of late but come on powers that be, give Sue Nicholls a storyline again soon! Stella needs to hutch up a bit and give someone else a bit of air time.
Personally if one character has to dominate, I’d rather like it to be our Aud. She is a classic Corrie woman portrayed by a wonderful actress.
Although I always enjoy seeing Audrey on screen I can’t help but wish the Coronation Street writers would give her something else to do other than become embroiled in more family dramas or entangled with yet more unsuitable men. Yes, i guess what I’m really after is an original plot for one of Corrie’s mature female characters.
Well, a boy can dream.
Are you missing Audrey? What would you like her next storyline to be?

Audrey last appeared on 25th February, which was over two months ago. So, she has disappeared!
We need to see her again!
Put Stella in the cupboard and bring Audrey out.
I'm glad I haven't just missed her! I hate how certain characters just disappear without explanation.
Seems ages since we have seen my favorite character Audrey. I'd like to see Louis back with Audrey but haven't heard that Nigel is returning.. :( Perhaps a story with a character she usually doesn't interact with a lot..Sylvia, Dennis, Carla, Tyrone or Kirk (remember that Rovers scene when she thought he was chatter her up lol?). Not sure what the storyline could be though?
Sheesh....should be 'was chatting her up'....
I'd like Audrey to have a strong presence in 'who's the daddy' storyline. She could be the one to bring Gail to her senses by reminding her about Ian Latimer. I always thought Audrey and Kylie had a good on-screen relationship, and perhaps this could be developed.
audrey is quite wonderful, yes.
Yes, I miss Audrey too. Perhaps a story about her getting involved in local politics again. David could take over more of running the salon.
I do believe we may see Audrey next week if I remember my TV guide rightly.
Personally I still want Lewis to come back, and get together with her again *waves Lewis/Audrey flag* But maybe it's too soon?
Or she could run for mayor. After all, she used to be lady mayoress once, and I can actually see her do something like that. She's someone who can speak her mind after all.
I think, while Audrey has been out of sight, she should have been busy writing her memoir of falling in love with a gigolo. After she lands an agent, there is talk of a TV mini-series, and the media begins to arrive on the Street to get the dirt on Lewis Archer. Gail enjoys the spotlight, in a perverse kind of way.
New plot:
Audrey meets a decent man, widower, a couple of years younger than her, good health, retired, financially stable, no baggage and able to tactfully handle Gail.
Wait - that's me. I'll be on the next Iceland Air flight from Seattle to Manchester.
Audrey elevates any scene she's in, and any character in the scene with her is the better for it. It's a shame how characters go missing for weeks, sometimes months at a time. I'm hoping Stuart Blackburn's stint with the show will rectify that. We'll see.
Yes, I miss her, too! I'd love to see a story of her managing a secret that no one can figure out, even us (the viewers) at first. She would be radiantly happy and be daily in the scene, but also daily or on weekends involved in something that makes her very happy. Of course, I'd love it to be a new clandestine renewal romance with Lewis, but it could be another romance, or a good friend to just do fun things with and keep her family guessing.
PS -- Graeme, BTW, are you back in That London to stay?
Where's that Ted? We haven't seen him for ages!
Anonymous - you are right, she does lift every scene she is in, and at the moment Corrie needs that kind of thing!
I am indeed a permanent resident in That London :)
And I sadly don't think we'll see Ted again - the actor who played him is a very popular choice for other TV, films and theatre!
I said this last night while watching Corrie. Sue Nicholls is a great actress and I love the interactions between Audrey and Gail, even if they seem to argue but I do enjoy their relationship. I was finally happy to see the reappearance of David and Kylie (and surprisingly enough) even Gail. Give more of them scenes than the Prices who seem to just dominate every episode.
And more scenes involving Nick with David and Kylie, get him away from miserable faced Leanne.
Humpty, Coronation Street ruined the relationship between Audrey and Kylie over the pathetic Marc/Marcia storyline. Audrey sacked Kylie and then later Kylie and David tried to take the Salon from her.
I agree that Audrey could see something of herself in Kylie and those two could make a great team. Audrey deserves better than failed fellas and saying "Oh Gail!".
Does anyone know? Is sue Nichols alright? I hope she's taking a nice long break, enjoying the sun somewhere warm, after that last sad, exhausting storyline. I hope she's got it in her contract that she doesn't have to return until they give her a happy storyline!
I wouldn't doubt that the actress is so appalled at the current state of the street she's gone AWOL.
I'm sure Sue Nicholls is fine - I'm sure I saw photos of her attending Helen Worth's wedding not so long ago.
And Anonymous - Ms Nicholls always looks fabulous so no surgery required!!
