Sharon Marshall revealed that Bill Kenwright will be returning to play Betty's on-screen son, Gordon Clegg for the funeral episodes in April. Bill last appeared as Gordon back in 1995, he was recast in 2002 with another actor, Geoffrey Leesley playing the role.
According to Sharon, Bill is the only actor who has been approached for the funeral episodes. It will be great to see Gordon back on-screen again, it would have been very strange if he didn't attend.

fantastic news!
Hooray! I didn't like it when they recast him.
It would be odd for Gordon not to. It would be nice to have his wife Caroline and son Peter there as well. Of the other characters, Bet would be my other choice of a returnee. Bet and Betty were best friends! And what about Maggie Clegg?
Excellent news!
*claps with glee*
What I love about this is there is absolutely no reason for Bill Kenwright to do it. He's not an actor, he's an astonishingly rich theatrical impresario. He's coming back just out of respect for Betty Driver. Wonderful.
Good News !, Maggie Clegg should be there also!!!
Great news about Bill. But if what ive read about the rest of her send off is true, im sorely dissappointed. One of the most popular characters, over forty years,a household and she doesn't even get a funeral send off?! Im disgusted to be honest. And if its also true they havent at least tried to bring back Bet Lynch her closest friend in the street then its a sad day.
I hate to say this and it pains me to write it, but that other "southern" soap seems to do send offs like this so much better these days! Esp bringing back of Pat's sons!
It remains to be seen, by those of us 'not in the know', but you're right Paul about one thing: EE absolutely excels in funereal send offs!
I don't think the actual funeral service is always a necessity to show on screen. This way it feels like more focus on Betty herself, stories, talking about her, rather than the sadness of a funeral service and eulogy.
