Corrie to bring back old character

Coronation Street producer Iain MacLeod has confirmed that an old character will be returning to the show - in a new guise.

The old character will appear when Underworld collapses next year.

Iain MacLeod said: "There's a health and safety investigation and the identity of the health and safety investigator is quite interesting as well, for people who've watched the show for a long time...

"There's nothing else on the table at the moment. There was a pitch at conference for someone broadly part of the McDonalds picture to return. I'm still on the fence on that one. It would be a cameo to facilitate another story.

"It's not Jim, though he has been mentioned. It's not a McDonald per se just someone connected to the clan. We have such a good cast and brilliant families - if I went round trying to add people lacking, there isn't anyone really. I'm very much about focusing on the characters we've got."

Interesting - I wonder who it might be?

Someone connected to the McDonalds though? That fella Liz was married to for a bit, Vernon was it?

I'd have preferred Curly Watts though:)

When the Rovers went up for sale and there was a "Who will buy it?" mystery until Peter bought it, I had wondered at first if they were going to bring Andy in to save the day and buy it so that his mother could continue to run it and he could either stay or make occasional appearances. Glad it's in Jenny's hands now, I like her as landlady.

Since he mentions it's not a McDonald, it won't be Andy though. Not sure who I'd want it to be. Lately characters who return don't end up working out so well.
